    Abstract: A method of managing system faults which enables system operators to easily detect the state of all the systems constituting the Home Location Register (HLR). Even when several sites are added, resulting in different system configuration, the inventive method can be easily applied to such configuration by introducing a novel technique in which the system operator prepares the graphics configuration capable of modifying only the data file as desired on the basis of the previously prepared programs without necessitating the help of professional programers. The method enables reconfiguration to be separately applied to the sites irrespective of changes in the internal hardware and software structure, which results in the reduction of manpower and accordingly of the operating expenses.

    Abstract: A process for the bioconversion of a nitrile to its corresponding amide product, particularly acrylonitrile to acrylamide which is used for forming polymers. The process uses a thermophilic bacterium having a nitrile hydratase activity that is constitutively expressed, activated by cobalt ions, stable at 60.degree. C., and is most active between 20.degree. C. to 70.degree. C. with optimum activity at 55.degree. C. Alternatively, the process uses the enzyme extracted from the thermophilic bacterium to convert a nitrile to its amide product. The genes encoding nitrile hydratase and amidase are described in which the former is useful for the conversion of an nitrile to its amide and the later is useful for the conversion of an amide to its acid.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing semiconductor devices is provided for forming a tungsten plug or polysilicon plug and minimizing the step-height of the intermediate insulating layer. An etching composition for this process is also provided as are semiconductor devices manufactured by this process. The method of manufacturing semiconductor devices includes the steps of forming a tungsten film having a certain thickness on an insulating layer and burying contact holes formed in the insulating layer constituting a specific semiconductor structure, and spin-etching the tungsten film using a certain etching composition such that the tungsten film is present only inside the contact holes not existing on the insulating film. The etching composition includes at least one oxidant selected from the group comprising H.sub.2 O.sub.2, O.sub.2, IO.sub.4.sup.-, BrO.sub.3, ClO.sub.3, S.sub.2 O.sub.8.sup.-, KlO.sub.3, H.sub.5 IO.sub.6, KOH, and HNO.sub.3, at least one enhancer selected from the group comprising HF, NH.sub.4 OH, H.

When the computer is not in use, the top surface of the computer can be used as a writing surface or alternatively, the platform carrying the personal computer can have a movable lid which can be used as a writing surface.     Abstract: A method of depositing a thin film for a semiconductor device using a lamp heating type apparatus. In the method, a wafer is loaded into a processing chamber of the apparatus, and the pressure of the chamber and the temperature of a susceptor installed in the chamber are increased to a level higher than a deposition pressure and a deposition temperature, respectively. Then, the pressure of the chamber and the temperature of the susceptor are decreased to the deposition pressure and the deposition temperature, respectively, and a film is deposited on the wafer. The vacuum of the chamber is then released and the gas remaining in the chamber and a source gas injection tube is purged.

    Abstract: A method includes automatically transmitting a transmit terminal identification which is formatted in the reception country's language when transmitting a document internationally from a facsimile system having memory storing transmit terminal identifications formatted in different languages. This can involve the steps of receiving the facsimile transmission number entered by a user, and comparing the first three digits of the number entered to the relevant international telephone service numbers, to determine if the transmission is domestic or international. When making an international transmission, the digits following the first three digits are compared to a table of country codes to determine the receiving country. Then a transmit terminal identification, formatted in the language of the receiving country, is read and transmitted.

This preferred emitter region comprises an emitter contact region which is entirely surrounded in the substrate by the highly doped base contact region and a carrier emitting region.

A method of combining separate light beams having different wavelengths is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A portable computer is provided that has hand grips on both sides of the main body of the computer. The hand grips allow the computer to be carried with two hands when the display screen is in an open position and allow the computer to be carried with one hand when the display screen is in a closed position. Additionally, a rubber bumper may be installed around the hand grips and the side of the main body of the computer to increase the ability of the computer to withstand impacts with foreign object. Furthermore, the computer may be designed with any one of an elliptical prism shape, a circular prism shape, and an oblong prism shape to further reduce the stress experienced by the computer when the computer undergoes an impact with a foreign object.For situations when a user wishes to transport the laptop computer without holding the computer in either hand, a shoulder strap may be fastened to the hand grips to allow the computer to be carried over a shoulder.
