Abstract: A remote storage digital video recorder (RSDVR) retains multiple copies of media programs so long as the copies are expected to be useful to at least one user. Rather than assigning copies to specific users at the time the program is recorded, copies can be assigned as the users request access to the particular media programs. Copies of unassigned programs can be deleted according to a schedule to reduce disk storage and processing demands on the system. A pool of program copies that are not initially assigned to particular users can be maintained until the user makes a specific request to view the program. This “late assignment” of program copies can substantially reduce the amount of data stored by the RSDVR system without substantially impacting the viewer experience.

This ID header may be used to authenticate the source provider/originator of a VoIP call, may be used to traceback to the source provider/originator of the VoIP call, and may be used to create a relationship between the source provider/originator and the destination provider/destination of the VoIP call. Such steps may be performed by a public proxy/platform. The ID header may include a certificate and/or a public encryption key, from a public certificate authority (CA) infrastructure, which assists in authenticating the source provider/originator of the VoIP call. The public proxy/platform may directly route authenticated VoIP calls through a VoIP network towards its destination, bypassing a public switched telephone network (PSTN).

When a user logs into a remote desktop, metadata of the user profile is loaded from persistent storage while registry settings and files of the user profile are loaded asynchronously with respect to the login. During the remote desktop session, snapshots of the remote desktop image in persistent storage are generated periodically, and a change log that indicates changes to the user profile is created therefrom. The user profile stored in persistent storage is updated lazily using the change log at opportunistic times after snapshot generation. When the user logs out of the remote desktop, the user profile stored in the persistent storage is updated with any additional changes to the user profile by extracting the changes from the copy-on-write cache associated with the most recent snapshot.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes establishing a session to a remote desktop determined for a user of a client device. The session allows the client device to remotely access the remote desktop to have one or more services performed for the user of the client device using resources of the remote desktop. The client device sends a request for a service in the one or more services to be performed on the remote desktop in the session and receives a result set determined from the service being performed by the remote desktop. A native viewer for the client device is determined based on a type of the result set. The native viewer is then invoked to display the result set.

The method also include the adjustment of an amplitude and a phase of a signal driving at least one antenna transmit element to refine the beam pattern. The search system determines a relative impression weight for each itinerary, an absolute impression weight for the property, and an expected impression weight of each property-itinerary combination. For each current property-itinerary combination, the search system determines a utility value based on the expected update frequency and expected impression weight to satisfy bandwidth constraints for each partner system. The search system schedules, for each partner system, queries for property-itinerary combinations having values greater than threshold utility value.
