  • Publication number: 20070295637
Abstract: A self-opening bag pack includes a plurality of stacked thermoplastic film bags, each of the bags have longitudinal side gussets and a U-shaped cut-out in an upper portion of the bag forming an open mouth portion and a pair of bag handles. The front and rear walls of each of said bags are corona treated to improve adhesion. An impact line is located immediately adjacent at least a portion of the U-shaped cutout and adheres the rear wall of a first bag in the bag pack to the front wall of a subsequent bag in the pack. Hanging apertures attach the bag pack to a dispensing rack. When the pack is attached to the rack and the first bag is pulled outwardly from the pack, the front wall of a subsequent bag will be adhered to the rear wall of the first bag, thereby causing the first bag to open.

  • Patent number: 7132484
Abstract: A continuous process for the production of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) is disclosed. According to the process, a liquid feed mixture comprising bis-3-hydroxypropyl terephthalate and/or low molecular weight polyesters of 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid, the liquid feed mixture having a mole ratio of propylene groups to terephthalate groups of 1.1 to 2.2 is fed to a flasher. A first stream of gaseous by-products is continuously vaporized and removed from the flasher, and a liquid flasher reaction product having a mole ratio of propylene groups to terephthalate groups of less than about 1.5 is continuously withdrawn from the flasher. The liquid flasher reaction product is continuously fed to a prepolymerizer where it is continuously polymerized to form a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) prepolymer and a second stream of gaseous by-products.

  • Patent number: 6951954
Abstract: A process for the continuous production of at least one of bis(3-hydroxypropyl) terephthalate and low molecular weight oligomers of 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid is disclosed. According to the process, preheated 1,3-propanediol (about 150° C. to about 200° C.) and preheated lower dialkyl esters of terephthalic acid (about 150° C. to about 220° C.) are combined in a mole ratio of about 1.2:1 to about 2.3:1 and fed to an ester exchange vessel where the mixture undergoes a continuous transesterification reaction. The liquid reaction mixture is continuously heated and mixed, at a temperature of about 215° C. to about 250° C., and a pressure of about 800 mm Hg to about 1,000 mm Hg. Gaseous reaction products are continuously separated from the liquid reaction mixture, and a stream of liquid reaction products containing bis(3-hydoxypropyl) terephthalate and low molecular weight oligomers of 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid is continuously removed from a base portion of the ester exchange vessel.

  • Patent number: 6592627
Abstract: A user can easily organize computerized document folders by associating a few sample documents in the document database with each folder. The present invention learns folder profiles based on the sample documents and moves the remaining documents into the folders accordingly. In this way, the user can construct new folders, or rearrange existing folders, or cause the computer to automatically rearrange and maintain the folders. This is particularly useful for managing a database of perhaps thousands of emails.

  • Publication number: 20020167453
Abstract: A broadband corrugated feed horn and flat top multiple beam antenna for use in satellite communication systems, and the like. The profile of corrugations of the horn is specially tuned or designed to flatten the aperture field distribution. As a result, the aperture efficiency increases, and the gain of the corrugated horn also increases. Also, the circular aperture and corrugated construction of the horn result in improved circular polarization characteristics. The flat top multiple beam antenna comprises an oversized reflector and a plurality of high efficiency feed horns that exhibit a flat top aperture field. The present high efficiency corrugated feed horns may be used in the flat top multiple beam antenna. The flat top multiple beam antenna has a reduced interference signal level, increased gain in the coverage area, and improved frequency reusability from a four-color to three-color configuration.

  • Patent number: 6414646
Abstract: Variable beamwidth antenna systems for use on spacecraft that is capable of changing their beamwidths while the spacecraft in on orbit. The variable beamwidth antenna systems include a main reflector, a subreflector, a feed horn, a main reflector displacement mechanism and a feed horn (or subreflector) displacement mechanism. For broaden the beamwidth, the RF feed horn and the subreflector are moved close together by proper distance. The main reflector is moved away from the subreflector along a line through centers of their respective surface by a distance given by a predetermined equation. Another embodiment of the present invention provides for a zoom contour beam antenna system that radiates a contour beam and whose beam is variable or zoomable.

  • Patent number: 6411262
Abstract: A shaped reflector antenna system for use on a communication satellite that comprises a plurality of shaped reflector antenna configurations. In an exemplary system, a first one of the antenna configurations is a diverged shaped reflector antenna and a second one of the antenna configurations is a converged shaped reflector antenna. Each of the shaped reflector antennas comprise a main reflector, a subreflector, and a feed horn. The feed horn illuminates the subreflector with RF energy in the shape of a feed cone that is reflected to the main reflector. The direction of RF energy propagation emitted by each of the shaped reflector antennas is in a direction that is different from a direction defined by a vector between a predetermined vertex and focal point associated with the respective shaped reflector antenna.
