  • Patent number: 6015836
Abstract: A new and improved formulation of a dual chain quaternary ammonium chloride compound and iodine/potassium iodide complex to serve as a disinfectant and sanitizer on surfaces and tissue as well as being utilized as an immersion solution in health care areas. The dual-quat with iodine formulation of the present invention is more useful over a wide range of areas and uses and is also more stable over a wide variety of water combinations. It improves efficacy, reduces toxicity, increases the spectrum of the antimicrobial effectiveness and broadens the effective usage of the complex into new areas of application.

  • Patent number: 5983117
Abstract: A system for providing fixed wireless access to standard telephony device is disclosed. A subscriber unit comprising a telephony interface for connecting to a standard telephony device, and a transceiver for establishing a communication link with a wireless network is used for providing telephony service to standard telephony device. Dual tone multiple frequency (DTMF) tones produced by said standard telephony device are sent to the wireless network, either directly or indirectly in the form of digit messages corresponding to the dialed digits, after a call set up message is sent. The subscriber unit sends a special set up message which identifies the subscriber unit as a terminal which sends digits on a digit by digit basis. A wireless network component (e.g. an MSC) is configured to identify such a set up message and upon receiving such a set up message collects and analyses digits sent by a subscriber unit on a digit by digit basis in order to provide a service feature or to connect a call.

  • Patent number: 5953407
Abstract: In a multi-service wireless, or wired, integrated services digital network, the type-of-call information in a call setup message may indicate the call is a voice call, a fax call or a data call. This information is used to generate a distinctive ring at the called subscriber unit, provided the called subscriber unit is not busy with another call. If the called subscriber unit is busy with a voice call, then a distinctive call waiting tone signal is generated based on the type-of-call information.

  • Patent number: 5734984
Abstract: A wireless telephone system is adapted for serving portable telephone sets of itinerant users. The wireless telephone system is provided with a plurality of radio base stations being organized in at least two groups or paging areas. Each group has a boundary, a portion of each boundary being overlapped by at least one other boundary, and at least two of the at least two groups having at least two radio base stations, one of which is in common with the other group. From time to time in relation to each group, a beacon signal is radio transmitted from a radio base station exclusive to the group for soliciting a recordation response from a portable telephone set of an itinerant user within a beacon zone. When the presence of a respondent portable set is recorded as being within a service area of one of the groups, the portable set is instructed not to respond to subsequent occurrences of the same beacon signal for some hours to avoid cluttering the wireless spectrum with undue supervisory signalling.

  • Patent number: 5704101
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a process and apparatus for aperturing, creping and optionally laminating webs such as, for example, films and fibrous nonwovens. The present invention is also directed to the resultant materials. The process for aperturing and creping webs utilizes a pattern roll and an anvil roll with the anvil roll being rotated faster that the pattern roll. The resultant material is visually much different than conventional materials which are typically run through similar rolls wherein the pattern roll and anvil roll are run at the same speed or wherein the pattern roll is run faster than the anvil roll. The resultant materials have a wide variety of applications not the least of which includes a liner material for personal care absorbent articles such as diapers, training pants, feminine hygiene products, bandages and the like.

  • Patent number: 5639236
Abstract: This invention is a new handpiece for performing semi-automatic root canal procedures. The handpiece is a lightweight, low rpm, cordless and rechargeable file motor. The file is spun in a counter clockwise direction while the entire handpiece is moved in a clockwise direction. The reduction in counter torques minimalize breakage of files and prepares the canal walls evenly and equally. Root canals can be performed more efficiently and effectively with this new device and method of using.

  • Patent number: 5507351
Abstract: This invention provides an improved apparatus for maintaining tooth rotating wheels, which are used to penetrate the soil either as a cultivating apparatus, a row cleaning apparatus, or as closing apparatus for row planters free of mulch, trash, dirt and/or rocks. By removing the debris from the space between the teeth on the wheel, the wheel can penetrate the soil to a controlled or desired depth as set by the operator. Debris between the wheels can limit the depth of penetration by the formation of a solid or semi-solid mass generally resembling of variable rim diameter. The wheels may be driven by a power mechanism or may be rotated by the penetration in the ground and the forward motion of a propulsion unit. The toothed wheel is kept clean of debris, thereby allowing accurate depth penetration as determined by conditions and requirements.

  • Patent number: 5497717
Abstract: A seed furrow closing device for planting units including a plurality of closing wheels, each wheel having a plurality of sharpened teeth on the periphery. The closing wheels canted at an angle to the vertical and press toward the seeds in the furrow. The teeth, controlled by down pressure mechanism, penetrate the soil to till compacted soil and firm loose soil to improve germination and emergence. The sharpened teeth interact with the soil to remove residue from the teeth as the teeth emerge. The penetration of the teeth helps break up clods and also stabilizes the rear of the planting unit.A trailing press wheel over the furrow may provide intermittent compacting of the soil loosened by the closing wheels over the center of the furrow. This loosening and compaction by the sharpened toothed wheels improves the germination and emergence of the seeds in the furrow.

  • Patent number: 5026284
Abstract: In root canal preparation, there is provided a smooth sided pilot ended endodontic K-type file, a K-type reamer file, a H-type Hedstroem file, an S-type file, and a R-type file (rhomboid), with the safe end of the instrument or file measured from D1 from 1-3 mm before the cutting edges are developed on all types of endodontic cutting instruments and on all sizes from 06-140.The smooth sided pilot end of the apex file can be incrementally increased based upon the increasing size of the instruments. For example, #15=1 mm smooth sided pilot end, #20=2 mm safe end, #25=3 mm smooth sided pilot end, etc. This is to be used for ease with the step back preparation technique. The smooth sided pilot ended apex file instrument has the ability to act as pathfinder into the root canal without damaging the apex portion during this phase. The smooth sided pilot ended endodontic file of this invention avoids forcing debris and filling material out the apex and creates a proper apical stop of proper retention and resistance.
