    Abstract: In example implementations, a display is provided. The display includes a collimated back light unit (BLU) comprising a light guide plate and a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs), a polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) layer formed over the collimated BLU, a thin film transistor (TFT) substrate, a liquid crystal layer formed over the TFT substrate, a color filter (CF) substrate, and a controller. The PDLC layer is to provide selective privacy areas on the display. The TFT substrate is to control emission of light from the plurality of LEDs. The CF substrate is to control a color of the light emitted from the plurality of LEDs. The controller is communicatively coupled to the plurality of LEDs and the POLO layer to activate a selected area of the PDLC layer to enable a privacy area on a corresponding area that is selected on the display.

    Abstract: A tiled light emitting diode (LED) display panel includes multiple flexible back plates arranged in tiles. Each flexible back plate has multiple through holes formed thereon. A pixel array is formed by multiple LEDs on the flexible back plates and collectively defines multiple pixels. Each pixel includes one LED and thin-film transistor (TFT) circuits disposed on a first side of a corresponding flexible back plate. A printed circuit board (PCB) is disposed at a second side of the flexible back plates. A third side of the PCB faces the second side of the flexible back plates and has multiple signal lines formed thereon. The LEDs and the TFT circuits of the pixels are electrically connected to the corresponding signal lines via multiple conductive structures formed in the through holes. A resistance per unit length of each flexible back plates is greater than a resistance per unit length of the PCB.

    Abstract: An example display device with a multiple privacy mode of operation includes a micro lens cell having a first liquid crystal layer with a first set of liquid crystal molecules and a controllable optical effective refractive index, to transmit light through the micro lens cell. A pair of electrodes receive a voltage to change an orientation of the first set of liquid crystal molecules and the optical effective refractive index of the first liquid crystal layer. A micro lens array directs the light at an interface of the micro lens array and first liquid crystal layer. The micro lens array directs the light at different angles based on the voltage. A second liquid crystal layer changes a polarization of the light. A color filter controls a color of the light. A common electrode controls an orientation of a second set of liquid crystal molecules in the second liquid crystal layer.
