  • Patent number: 7460281
Abstract: A document holding fixture for a vertical optical scanner. The fixture has a main body, a transparent panel, four linking bars, a document cover panel, and a document backing plate. The document holding fixture uses a simple four linking bar system to maintain a constant parallelism between the document cover panel and the surface of the transparent panel. Weight of the document cover panel provides necessary pressure to press a scan document firmly onto the glass surface of the transparent panel. To facilitate single hand document insertion, a stationing device is used to freeze the document cover panel when the panel reaches a horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 7385736
Abstract: A linear guiding mechanism for a platform type optical scanner. A V-shaped track is installed inside a casing and positioned parallel to the travel path of a carrier chassis containing a system of optical devices. The upper section of the V-shaped track has a pair of support surfaces forming an included angle. The V-shaped track supports a positioning wheel or a positioning bump attached to the carrier chassis. The carrier chassis moves along the longitudinal direction of the V-shaped track when driven by a driving system. The V-shaped track may be constructed from a pair of monorails so that the driving belt may move inside the space between the monorails. An additional positioning structure may attach to the interior sidewall of the casing to serve as a retainer for the chassis in an initial position.

  • Publication number: 20080101784
Abstract: A method for calculating distance and actual size of a shot object is provided, which is applicable to an image capture device, and includes the following steps. First, a table of the corresponding relationship of the focus pulse and an object distance (distance between the image capture device and the shot object) is established. After being focused, the actual object distance is obtained by looking up the table. Under the circumstance of the known object distance and image distance, the image height of the shot object is obtained by calculating the corresponding pixel size of the image capture device, and thus the object height (actual size of the shot object) is easily calculated with the equation of “object distance/object height=image distance/image height”.

  • Patent number: 7295350
Abstract: A photographic film scanning device includes an image scanner including a first casing having a transparent top surface and an optical scanning module movably arranged inside the first casing. A film driving assembly includes a second casing having a detachable bottom removably positioned on the top surface of the first casing. A light-transmitting window is defined in the bottom, having a length and a width. A film driving mechanism is arranged inside the second casing, including a film container for containing a length of film and a film spool for windingly receiving the film roll, respectively arranged on opposite longitudinal ends of the window. A motor drives a toothed wheel engaging perforations defined in the film for moving the film across the length of the window. A light source projects light through the film and the window toward the optical scanning module for performing scanning operation of the film.

  • Patent number: 7268922
Abstract: A chassis locking apparatus capable of being unlocked spontaneously is used for fixing the chassis in a scanner. The locking apparatus includes a groove interlinking next to the electric socket, a push rod in the groove, and a revolving locking element. By means of the strength of inserting the plug into the socket on the scanner, the push rod is pushed to move along the groove and hit the locking element, which is originally fixed on the chassis, to make the locking element rotate so that the chassis locking apparatus can be unlocked spontaneously. Therefore, no effort is necessary for a user to unlock the chassis locking apparatus by hand before using the scanner, which is convenient and timesaving.

  • Patent number: 7057777
Abstract: An optical image scanning device includes a casing having a document supporting plate and a top cover. The top cover has an underside surface coated with a fluorescent material thereon. An optic module includes a light source for projecting an exciting light onto the fluorescent layer whereby the fluorescent material is excited by the exciting light to emit a scanning light. The scanning light transmits through a light-transmittable document and projects an image of the document onto reflective mirrors for guiding the scanning light through a focusing lens. The focusing lens focuses the light onto a image sensing device. A reflective type light source is selectively arranged in the optic module for selectively projecting a light onto a document formed on a non-transmissive medium that is positioned on the document supporting plate.

  • Publication number: 20040119417
Abstract: The present invention provides a common illumination light source to replace the conventional backlight source as the light source in the scanner. The present invention is according to the identity of the document sheet (transparent or reflected) that the “ON” or “OFF” of the linear light emitting diode arrays is controlled by the computer program to perform the scanning process. Further, the backlight module utilized the light guide device to collect the illuminating light that is emitted from the linear emitting diode arrays, and the illuminating light reflected through the document sheet to the image sensor device by the reflected mirror module. Thus, the scanner utilized the common illumination light as the light source to illuminate the document sheet that can reduce the cost of lamp holder and obtain the better outputting image data quality.

  • Publication number: 20040057228
Abstract: A LED light source used in a scanner is disclosed, and particularly a series of lenses employed to condense the LED light on the front and rear sides and disperse the LED light to the left and right sides. LED compared with CCFL employed as a light source can improve the problem of high power consumption, warm-up, and the limits of lifetime. Furthermore, the light through the lens extends the range of the left and right sides on a scanned material. Therefore, the amount of the LEDs decreases, than that skilled in the art used a large number of LEDs for obtaining a smoother field of light, and achieve low power consumption.
