  • Publication number: 20030048480
Abstract: A photographic film scanning device includes an image scanner including a first casing having a transparent top surface and an optical scanning module movably arranged inside the first casing. A film driving assembly includes a second casing having a detachable bottom removably positioned on the top surface of the first casing. A light-transmitting window is defined in the bottom, having a length and a width. A film driving mechanism is arranged inside the second casing, including a film container for containing a length of film and a film spool for windingly receiving the film roll, respectively arranged on opposite longitudinal ends of the window. A motor drives a toothed wheel engaging perforations defined in the film for moving the film across the length of the window. A light source projects light through the film and the window toward the optical scanning module for performing scanning operation of the film.

  • Publication number: 20030038993
Abstract: An automatic document-scanning method for scanner is applicable to a document and comprises the following steps: (A) Previewing the document; (B) Performing optical character recognition of the written language on the document and calculating the deflection angle thereof; (C) Scanning the document; and (D) Automatically correcting the image of the scanned written language obtained in step (C) basing on the deflection angle. By above-mentioned method, even a slantingly misplaced document set on a document-loading panel of scanner can be properly amended in its orientation such that a normally oriented document image is providable to the scanner user.

  • Publication number: 20020158135
Abstract: A scanning apparatus with the appearance of a pen for scanning a small-sized document has the casing, the cap, the input slot and the output slot for inputting and outputting the small-sized document on the casing, respectively, the transmission apparatus for driving the small-sized document, the light source for emitting the light, the photoelectric sensing device for receiving a light signal reflected by the small-sized document and then outputting a digital data of captured image to the control processing unit. The scanning apparatus also has 1394 interface connector or USB (Universal Serial Bus) connector to transmit the digital data stored in the control processing unit to the terminal operating system such as the computer, the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), or the cellular phone for editing or printing. The scanning apparatus of the invention is easy to carry and can be operated anywhere and anytime.
