    Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting, monitoring, and mitigating the presence of a drone are provided herein. In one aspect, a system for detecting presence of a drone includes a radio-frequency (RF) receiver. The system can further include a processor and a computer-readable memory in communication with the processor and having stored thereon computer-executable instructions to cause the at least one processor to receive a set of samples from the RF receiver for a time interval, obtain predetermined data of expected communication protocols used between the drone and a controller, and determine whether the RF signal corresponds to one of the expected communication protocols by comparing the samples of the RF signal to the predetermined data and decoding the RF signal. In further aspects the system extracts a unique identifier of the drone based at least partially on the decoded RF signal.

    Abstract: An edge-morphing arrangement for an airfoil includes a compliant upper surface and a compliant lower surface that are joined together. An actuator is coupled to a driven surface and actuated to move the driven surface and change the shape thereof, with the non-driven surface changing its shape in response to actuation of the driven surface. The upper and lower surfaces can be part of a sub-flap mounted to a traditional flap of the fixed wing of an airplane. The upper and lower surfaces can be mounted to existing structure in the flap, or the flap components can be mounted to the sub-flap. The upper and lower surfaces can alternatively replace the traditional flap in the fixed wing of an aircraft. The upper and lower surfaces are continuous and can be deflected upward, downward, or twisted in a span-wise direction relative to the flap or wing.

    Abstract: A liquid level sensor and a method for sensing a liquid level adapted to a liquid storage container are provided. The liquid level sensor includes a plurality of sensing electrodes and a liquid level determination circuit. The sensing electrodes are disposed on a side wall of the liquid storage container and correspond to different liquid levels. The liquid level determination circuit is coupled to the sensing electrodes and stores a plurality of capacitance reference values and a plurality of capacitance threshold values in response to a tuning command received from a host during factory calibration. The capacitance reference values are locked after the factory calibration. After the factory calibration, the liquid level determination circuit scans capacitance values of the sensing electrodes to determine a liquid level of a liquid in the liquid storage container based on current capacitance values of the sensing electrodes.

    Abstract: A system and method for detecting a scrambling seed in communication between a drone and a controller are described. The system comprises a radio-frequency (RF) receiver configured to receive an RF signal transmitted between the drone and a controller. The RF signal includes scrambled data that contain repetitions of unscrambled data based on known scramblers with an unknown scrambling seed. The system further comprises a memory device in communication with a hardware processor and having stored computer-executable instructions to cause the hardware processor to identify the smallest number of bits required in each segment of scrambled data for data combining by finding an invertible predetermined matrix. The hardware processor is configured to determine the unknown scrambling seed based on a function combining the predetermined matrix, transition matrices of scramblers, and segments of received scrambled data.
