  • Patent number: 7136631
Abstract: A method for providing telecommunications users access to information networks. This is achieved by providing access information for at least one service provider to a service application. Thereafter, the service application retrieves the access information when information is requested from the service provider. The service application formats a request with the access information and transmits the request to the service provider. The service provider's response is presented to the user. By the use of this invention, the user can request information from a service provider from one or more devices without re-entering the access information.

  • Publication number: 20060189680
Abstract: Apigenin is a nontoxic compound. The present invention is appropriate for apigenin use in people who have a high risk of getting cancer, and in people who have cancer through chemoprevention and chemotherapy, respectively. We showed that apigenin inhibited cancer cell proliferation, tumor growth and angiogenesis. Apigenin selectively inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis of cancer cells, enhanced the sensitivity of different cancer cells to different therapeutic drugs including cisplatin and taxol. Apigenin also inhibits angiogenesis and tumor growth in human cancers, and inhibits angiogenic inducers such as hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Apigenin inhibited expression of HIF-1 and VEGF through PI3K, AKT, p70S6K1 and HDM2 pathways, which are commonly observed in all kinds of human cancers.

  • Publication number: 20060189550
Abstract: Covalently lipidated oligonucleotides comprising the CpG dinucleotide unit, or an analogue thereof, may be used as immunostimulatory agents to protect against a disease caused by a cancer cell or a pathogen, either alone or in conjunction with immunogens and/or non-immunological agents. Lipidated oligonucleotides with special backbones, lipidated oligonucleotides with fewer than eight nucleotides, and lipidated oligonucleotides comprising a plurality of CpG dinucleotide-containing segments connected by a long internucleoside linkage are of particular interest. These compounds are also novel per se.

  • Publication number: 20060040891
Abstract: The core structure of pentaerythritol has been used as a replacement for one or both sugars in lipid A, leading to the generation of a series of lipid A analogs. These lipid A analogs may further differ from lipid A with respect to, e.g., the number, nature and location of negatively charged groups, and the number, nature and location of the lipid chains. The lipid A analogs may be lipid A agonists useful as immunostimulatory agents, or lipid A antagonists useful in the treatment of septic shock. In a like manner, a residue of pentaerythritylamine may be used as a replacement for an amino sugar residue in a carbohydrate ligand having a biological activity of interest, generating a series of ligand analogs. These are useful, e.g., as haptens, inhibitors of bacterial-host cell adhesion, etc.

  • Patent number: 6956737
Abstract: A disk drive mounting assembly includes a chassis (16), a first receiving cage (20), a mounting bracket (50) and a second receiving cage (60). The disk drive (10) comprises two pairs of sliding posts (12). The first cage for receiving the disk drive is generally U-shaped and has two side walls (23, 24). Each side wall defines a pair of slots (26, 32) for accommodating the sliding posts of the disk drive. The mounting bracket (50) pivotably attached to the first cage includes a pressing body (52) and a pair of fixing arms (54) depending from the pressing body. Each fixing arm defines a fixing cutout (56) for restraining the sliding posts. • Publication number: 20050117050
Abstract: A battery takes in a charge current value or a discharge current value from a current detection device at predetermined sampling intervals. Then, based upon the current value, a power consumption quantity representing the extent to which power has been consumed during a sampling interval is calculated and a total power consumption quantity is determined by sequentially adding the power consumption quantity corresponding to each sampling interval. Based upon the total power consumption quantity calculated at each sampling interval, a determination device determines as to whether or not the battery needs to be refreshed, and the determination results are transmitted to the camera. The camera informs the user that the battery needs to be refreshed if the determination device judges that a refresh operation is necessary. The sampling interval may be set longer when the power to the camera is in an OFF state compared to when the power to the camera is in an ON state.
