  • Patent number: 9444831
Abstract: One embodiment relates to a computer-implemented process for detecting malicious scripts at a client computer using a malicious script detector. A web page interceptor intercepts an access of web page data at a universal resource locator address. A script preprocessor determines script fragments embedded in the web page data and extracts variable and function names from the script fragments. A context analyzer determines whether the script fragments reference known-good scripts. The context analyzer may check variable and function names in the script fragment against a database of known-good contexts. Those script fragments which were determined to reference known-good scripts may be categorized as non-malicious. An emulator may perform emulation on remaining script fragments which were not determined to reference known-good scripts and not perform emulation on the script fragments which were determined to reference known-good scripts. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9398032
Abstract: One embodiment relates to a computer-implemented method for detecting malicious scripts in web pages. A local engine and an application are executed at a client computer. The local engine intercepts an access by the application to a web page at a universal resource locator (URL) under a domain. The local engine determines scripts at the URL and scripts at other URLs under the domain. Using that information, the local engine determines if the scripts at the URL include one or more unique script(s). The local engine sends the unique script(s), if any, via a network to a script analyzer. The script analyzer may then perform emulation of the unique script(s) to detect malicious code therein. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9317686
Abstract: Operating system events are monitored and a file change request of a process is detected. If the process is suspicious, then the file to be changed is backed up and then the process is allowed to change the file as requested. If it is later determined that the process is ransomware, the process is blocked and further file backups are halted. The original file is recovered and the encrypted file is discarded. If it is later determined that the process is not malicious, then further file backups are halted. Any backup files are discarded. Ransomware may be detected by comparing a file extension of the process with file extensions of any files requested to be changed, by comparing file extensions of any files requested to be changed, or by an analysis of behavior of the process itself.

  • Publication number: 20160030917
Abstract: An adsorbent for halogenated anaesthetics includes: an inorganic material; and an organic material providing a framework for the inorganic material. The inorganic material may be chromium and the organic material may be terephthalic acid. The adsorbent may be formed or configured such that the adsorbent includes coordinatively unsaturated sites or such that the inorganic material may form octahedral structures. The adsorbent is formed or configured to be substantially regenerated at approximately room temperature and to provide selectivity for sevofluorane in water vapour of approximately 1.0. A method of producing an adsorbent includes: selecting an appropriate chemical containing an inorganic material; selecting an organic material to provide a framework for the inorganic material; dissolving the base chemical in water; mixing the organic material with the dissolved base chemical; heating the mixture; filtering the mixture to remove excess organic material; and drying the filtrate.

  • Patent number: 9202053
Abstract: Emulation software executes upon an operating system of a computer and creates an emulated computer. Bootstrapping code is read into this emulated computer from a sector (such as a master boot record) of a mass storage device. Instructions in the bootstrapping code are executed by an instruction emulator (also using an emulated CPU, emulated memory and an emulated hard disk) and these instructions and behavior are collected as each instruction executes. Access to the actual hard disk may be allowed. The collected information is then compared to a virus signature or behavior rules indicating malware and a conclusion is drawn as to whether the bootstrapping code includes malicious software.

  • Patent number: 8949588
Abstract: A mobile telephone is used to diagnose a computer with malware. The telephone becomes a bootable device with a bootable partition in persistent storage. An operating system image including antivirus software in the bootable partition of the telephone is used to bootstrap the affected computer. The antivirus software executes upon the computer and transfers results (files, checksums, registry data) to the mobile telephone. The telephone uploads these results to a remote cloud service which then develops instructions, patterns, files, etc. for counteracting the malware. The cloud service downloads this response to the mobile telephone which then transfers the response back to the computer. The antivirus software on the computer uses the response to remove the malware on the computer. An interface application on the mobile telephone handles transfer with the computer and uploading and downloading with the cloud service.

  • Patent number: 8918879
Abstract: During a bootstrapping process, path names of necessary bootstrap modules are collected and stored into a file. When an infected bootstrap component is detected, the method initiates emulation of the bootstrapping process within a virtual machine rather than directly cleaning malware from the infected bootstrap component. A settings file is copied into the virtual machine indicating the necessary bootstrap components in the host computer (including the infected component). Alternatively, the actual components are copied into the virtual machine. A clean version of the infected bootstrap component is made available to the virtual machine. The virtual machine is launched using the bootstrap components (including the clean version of the infected bootstrap component) and it emulates the bootstrapping process of the operating system. A successful bootstrap indicates the infected bootstrap component may be cleaned on the host computer.

  • Publication number: 20140325689
Abstract: A shutdown verification method executed by a mobile terminal is provided. At first, a shutdown command is received. Then, a shutdown verification prompt which requests a verification input is output. After the verification input is received, the verification input is compared with preset verification data previously stored in the mobile terminal. At last, the mobile terminal is shut down if the verification input matches the preset verification data. A shutdown verification device corresponding to the shutdown verification method is also provided. The mobile terminal cannot be shut down without verification. Therefore, malicious shutdown of the mobile terminal is avoided.
