  • Publication number: 20030094850
Abstract: A hub and axle assembly for a bicycle includes a hub shell rotatably mounted on an axle extending along an axis. A rolling member is interposed between and cooperates with a curved surrounding race portion of a mounting sleeve member secured on the axle and a curved surrounding race member to serve as an anti-friction bearing. A tubular mount member has a tubular engaging portion to engage a left wall segment of the hub shell, and a tubular mount portion extending outwardly of the hub shell to be driven by a uni-directional driving sprocket wheel mechanism. A retaining member is disposed to prevent the mounting sleeve member from moving away from the rolling member.

  • Publication number: 20030093752
Abstract: Techniques are provided for creating a Cyclic Redundancy Check generator in a system. According to one aspect of the invention, a universal N-bit capable CRC generator is created and programmed to adapt to any given polynomial key word. According to one feature, the N-bit capable CRC generator comprises N shift registers that are associated with corresponding exclusive-OR gates (XOR gates). Each of the shift registers corresponds to a term of an imaginary Nth order polynomial. Thus, by nullifying a subset of the shift registers and their corresponding XOR gates, the N-bit capable CRC generator can be converted into a specific polynomial key word CRC generator. The selection of the subset of the shift registers and their corresponding XOR gates is based on the desired polynomial key word. The N-bit capable CRC generator can be re-programmed each time a new polynomial key word is desired.

  • Patent number: 6523660
Abstract: A wheel hub device includes a driving barrel and a hub shell mounted rotatably on an axle of a bicycle. When the shell is rotated via the barrel to move the bicycle forward, a coupling socket disposed in the shell threadedly engages the barrel and frictionally engages the shell. A coil spring is disposed between the shell and the coupling socket such that a sudden termination of rotation of the barrel while the bicycle continues to move forward due to inertia, imparts a frictional force to the coil spring to enable the coil spring to keep biasing against the coupling socket and against the biasing force of a associating spring disposed between the coupling socket and a sliding member, thereby disengaging the coupling socket from the shell to permit smooth idle rotation of the latter and to prevent rotation of the barrel with the shell.

  • Patent number: 6473864
Abstract: A method and system for controlling a program in a processor system is disclosed. The processor system includes processor, a normal memory and a fast memory. The method and system comprises partitioning the program into a performance critical portion and a non-critical portion; and storing the performance critical portion of the program into the fast memory. The method and system further includes storing the non-critical portion in the normal memory, and causing the processor to execute the performance critical portion and non-critical portions at the appropriate time. Accordingly, through the use of the present invention power is conserved in the processing system when executing a program.

  • Publication number: 20020108022
Abstract: A method and system for allowing back to back write operations utilizing a single port cache is disclosed. The method and system comprises overlapping and pipelining the tag lookup and data write instruction. In so doing, the processor would be able to perform single cycle cache hit detection/data write in a single port SRAM data cache. Two instructions can be operated on simultaneously without either of the two stages being idle. Accordingly, during the tag lookup cycle the data can be read while the data write cycle writes data. This simple pipelining procedure will allow the number of instruction cycles reduced down to only one cycle. Moreover, this methodology will work for consecutive read seek and data write to the same memory address as well.

  • Patent number: 6402257
Abstract: A wheel hub for a bicycle includes a hub shell with an inner wall segment within which an engaging portion of a driven cylinder is non-rotatably fitted from one end of the hub shell. A screw-threaded cylinder can enter the hub shell from the other end, and has an externally threaded shank to engage threadedly an internally threaded portion of the engaging portion, and an enlarged head which is provided with a resilient member to restrain rotatably the head relative to another inner wall segment of the hub shell during the threaded engagement. As such, the screw-threaded cylinder can be remained in the hub shell even after the driven cylinder is removed from the hub shell to prevent misplacement of the screw-threaded cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6386644
Abstract: A hub includes a hub housing sleeved rotatably on a spindle, and a tubular end piece sleeved fixedly on the spindle. A tubular flexible seal member is disposed between the hub housing and the end piece, and includes an outer ring and an inner ring. The outer ring has a circular tubular portion with an axial inner end, and an inward flange that extends integrally, radially and inwardly from the inner end of the circular tubular portion to abut against a bottom wall of an annular groove that is formed in an end surface of the hub housing. The inner ring has a largest-diameter inner end that is formed integrally with an inner periphery of the inward flange, and a smallest-diameter outer end portion which is sleeved around and which is in tight engagement with a frictional outer surface of an insert portion of the end piece. The inner ring reduces gradually in inner diameter from the largest-diameter inner end to the smallest-diameter outer end portion.

  • Patent number: 6356995
Abstract: A processing system in accordance with the present invention is disclosed. The processing system comprises a processor and a microcode sequencer coupled to the processor. The microcode sequencer includes a plurality of modules. Each of the modules enables a specific function based upon a selection signal from the processor. A system and method in accordance with the present invention provides for many advantages over conventional systems. First of all, there is an efficient register bank and the hardware is smaller and more efficient than a DSP. Finally, since it is possible to program macro instructions for different applications, it is more flexible than DSP systems. It also is smaller, has a lower gate count and is faster to market because it is software programmable. Unlike RISC or coprocessor type systems, only a single assembler is needed to handle DSP and multimedia instructions. In addition, a large cache memory is not required while having a higher code density for a particular application.
