  • Patent number: 9237175
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for virtualizing internet protocol (IP) addresses in terminal server sessions. A client component comprises a layer service provider (LSP) and a name service provider (NSP) that intercept a socket call to associate a port with a socket for a terminal server session. The client component queries a server component for a virtual IP address, and the server component determines whether the terminal server session can use a virtual IP address. Where the session can use a virtual IP address, the server returns a virtual IP address and the client component binds the socket call to the virtual IP address. Where the session cannot use a virtual IP address, the server returns an indication of that, and the client component acts as a proxy for that socket call and any future calls for that socket.

  • Publication number: 20150037802
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel method to fabricate silica nanostructures on thin polymer films based on silica deposition and self-wrinkling induced by thermal shrinkage. These micro- and nano-scale structures have vastly enlarged the specific area of silica, thus the silica nanomembranes can be used for solid phase extraction of nucleic acids. The inventive silica nanomembranes are suitable for nucleic acid purification and isolation and demonstrated better performance than commercial particles in terms of DNA recovery yield and integrity. In addition, the silica nanomembranes have extremely high nucleic acid capacity due to its significantly enlarged specific surface area of silica. Methods of use and devices comprising the silica nanomembranes are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20150031573
Abstract: The present invention provides a PCR-free, multiplexed ligation assay for miRNA expression analysis that produces highly quantitative, 10-100 plex miRNA profiling in a single reaction. The inventive methods use a 2-step ligation assay to generate an array of miRNA specific ligation products that can be decoded and quantified by a size discrimination method such as gel electrophoresis or single molecule separation. One embodiment is a low-cost assay that can be performed using standard tools available in nearly all molecular biology laboratories. This assay requires nothing more than a gel apparatus and reader for detection. Other embodiments include use of magnetic beads and other size exclusion apparatus which give increasingly higher sensitivity, lower sample consumption, and reduced processing steps.

  • Publication number: 20140080964
Abstract: A glue is provided comprising by weight: styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene block copolymer 15-30%; amorphous poly alpha olefin 2-20%; hydrogenated petroleum resin 20-40%; liquid isobutylene homopolymer 1-10%; mineral oil 20-50%; and antioxidants 0.1-2%. The glue has high strength when cured but low viscosity. When serving as back-glue of PVC flooring, it has greater bonding force to the PVC flooring than to the ground. The glue will not be damaged by the ground, and there will be no adhesive residue attached to the ground when the floor coverings are separated from the ground due to some reasons such as misplacement. Therefore the glue can be resistant to repeated tiling. In the meantime, the floor coverings, such as a PVC floor, will not be damaged after separation from the ground due to misplacement.
