Patent number: 10466378Abstract: Methods and systems to assess in near real-time defects in seismic data resulting from noise and seismic data acquisition-system deviations during a marine survey are disclosed. Methods and systems apply forward modeling to a model of a subterranean formation to generate synthetic seismic data based on the noise and deviations in the seismic data acquisition system. The synthetic seismic data represents the seismic data that would be collected by a marine survey carried out on a subterranean formation with the same structure as the Earth model and includes defects that result from the noise and deviations in the seismic data acquisition system. Error estimation is applied to the synthetic seismic data in order to assess the defects at different stages of seismic data processing.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2015Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: PGS Geophysical ASInventor: Neil Hugh Richard Turnbull

Patent number: 8898017Abstract: A method and system for estimating reservoir pressure in a hydrocarbon reservoir from downhole pressure measurements of producing wells is disclosed. Pressure measurements are obtained from wells in the production field over time, and communicated to a server that applies the pressure measurements for a well to a model of that well. The server operates the model using the pressure measurements to determine an operating mode of the well, such as producing or shut-in. Upon detection of a change in operating mode indicative of an abrupt change in flow at the well, such as corresponding to a shut-in event, additional downhole pressure measurement data is acquired until a steady-state condition is reached. The pressure measurements are used to determine a reservoir pressure, which is transmitted to a responsible reservoir engineer or other user. Modification of the determined reservoir pressure value by the user can be received, and the stored reservoir pressure and well model are updated accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2009Date of Patent: November 25, 2014Assignees: BP Corporation North America Inc., BP Exploration Operating Company LimitedInventors: Tor Kristian Kragas, John Foot, Hugh Richard Rees

Patent number: 8865989Abstract: Important new descriptors (Down Force Slope and Up Force Slope), which more fully and meaningfully characterize the continuous Down Force and Up Force are revealed. Similar descriptors are also created to more fully characterize the Balance Force and Frictional Force curves. The invention also discloses various methods and means for accurately testing, measuring and determining other parameters (including the position of the at-rest key, key sluggishness, and others characterizing the “let-off” event) in an accurate and efficient manner. Methods of quantifying and measuring the actual inertia of a key action—in a non-invasive manner—are also disclosed, with several inertial parameters being defined. Methods for quantifying and measuring the actual inertia of the major individual components of a key action are also detailed, along with parameters and methods for expressing their contribution “at the key”.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2013Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Inventor: Hugh Richard Voit, II

Patent number: 8049090Abstract: New parameters (Down Force, Up Force, Balance Force, and Average Friction) are defined for evaluating important “stroke characteristics” of individual key actions of one or more pianos or keyboards, describing exactly how these parameters are to be tested, measured and determined. The new parameters are designed to replace the prior art parameters of Down Weight, Up Weight, Balance Weight and Friction. Various methods, means and apparatus are disclosed for accurately testing, measuring and determining these new parameters, with the capability of performing thousands of measurements—on thousands of different key mechanisms—in a short amount of time.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2009Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Inventor: Hugh Richard Voit

Patent number: 7377848Abstract: A variable air circulation system for the cab enclosure of an off-highway vehicle is disclosed and described. The system provides for adjustment of the ratio between fresh air circulation and recirculation of cab air. Fresh air is introduced into the cab through a fresh air inlet having a fresh air filter therein. The air inlet leads to a circulation conduit. When a cab door is opened, a valve to the conduit is opened. When the door is closed, the air pulse created in the cab is effective, through the valve, to dislodge dust and dirt from the filter.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2006Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: CNH America LLCInventors: Hugh Richard Voit, II, Robert D.
