  • Publication number: 20050280125
Abstract: A copackaged electronic device comprises a diode device having an anode coupled to a drain electrode of a switching device and a cathode capable of being coupled to an external circuit. The switching device may be controlled by an integrated circuit mounted on a source electrode of the switching device and electrically connected such that the integrated circuit is capable of controlling switching of the switching device. For example, the device is used in a power factor correction circuit. The diode device comprises at least one inverted diode having a solderable anode and a wire-bondable cathode.

  • Patent number: 6713937
Abstract: A diode for use in an under-the-hood automotive application has a TO 220 outline and consists of a diode die on a two piece lead frame which has a thick section to which the bottom of the die is soldered, and a thinner section which extends through a plastic housing as a connection tab and which has a forked end for easy connection to a node of a three phase bridge. The bottom of the thickened section is exposed through the insulation housing for easy connection to a d-c heat sink rail. The diode is particularly useful in applications greater than 2 KW.

  • Patent number: 6115154
Abstract: A method and system for unambiguously detecting fiber cuts in an optical network regardless of the number of EDFAs that are located between the fiber cut and the monitor point. In accordance with our invention, the power of a marker wavelength is compared to the power of a nearby spectral region. Where the comparison indicates that the power ratio is approximately equal to unity a flag is raised indicating that there is fiber cut. Where the comparison indicates that the power ratio is much greater than unity the flag is not raised. The monitoring point includes circuitry for detecting the ratio between the marker wavelength and the nearby spectral band and for indicating when there is a fiber cut.

  • Patent number: 5838212
Abstract: In a high frequency transmission arrangement such as that used to deliver microwave energy from a magnetron to a waveguide, a ceramic probe is covered with a non-ceramic dielectric material such as PTFE. This allows the magnetron to operate satisfactorily at low Pressures where arcing would otherwise be expected to occur.

  • Patent number: 4107142
Abstract: Epoxide materials suitable for use in flexible adhesives are prepared by reacting a diene, such as butadiene or isoprene, with an electron donor, typically an alkali metal, in the presence of a polyepoxide normally in a molar ratio diene:polyepoxide of less than 3:1. The polyepoxide is typically a conventional epoxy resin such as DGBA. The product normally separates into two phases, the upper of which comprises epoxy-terminated diene oligomers with degrees of polymerization of about 6 to 14. This separation may be avoided by incorporating a minor proportion of acrylonitrile into the product by addition to either the original diene or the anionic living polymer immediately before hydrolysis. The products may be cured with conventional epoxide curing agents to give an internally flexibilized adhesive having useful combinations of tensile and shear strengths.

  • Patent number: 4017570
Abstract: The preparation of three dimensional skeletal structures using the step of deforming rounded beads to form a mold or matrix is described. A filler material is introduced and then rigidified to form the skeletal structure. The deformable beads are composed of materials which deform upon compression or expansion due to pressure from adjacent beads and included, for instance, metals, waxes, salts, polymers, and ceramic compositions in their plasticly deformable states. The filler material which rigidifies to form the skeletal structure can be composed of solidifiable materials such as metals, polymers, or ceramic compositions. The solid material volume of the skeletal structure so formed upon removal of the beads is between about 2% to 20% of a corresponding volume of a non-skeletal solid material. The corresponding porosities representing the interconnected void volumes are between about 80% and 98% of a corresponding volume of a non-skeletal solid material.
