Abstract: A chamber device for analyzing living cell(s). The chamber device includes a base and a lid that when reversibly pressed closed create a chamber. The base is configured with an optically transparent well to contain at least one cell. The lid has a breadth greater than the base and is configured to contain at least one sensor. The lid is further configured with a lip that when pressed between the lid and the base creates an impermeable seal. The base and the lid are configured so that, when closed and in use, the sensor remains spatially apart from the at least one cell.

Abstract: Methods, systems and machine-readable instructions for constraining layout variations for accommodating variable content in electronic documents are described. In one aspect, explicit logical blocks extracted from the electronic document are received. Each of the explicit logical blocks corresponds to a content region of the electronic document assigned a respective content style. Layout relationships among the explicit logical blocks are determined. Based on the layout relationships, rules constraining layout variations among implicit logical blocks to approximate the electronic document in appearance while accommodating variable content are generated. Each of the implicit logical blocks corresponds to a respective one of the explicit logical blocks and accommodates variable content having the content style assigned to the corresponding explicit logical block. The rules are stored in a machine-readable medium.

Abstract: A method for creating a relation tree including scanning a storage device for digital images and performing at least one facial analysis on individuals in the digital images, identifying members of a nuclear family and an association of an individual from the digital images with the nuclear family in response to at least one of the facial analysis, and organizing the relation tree such that the nuclear family is linked with the associated individual.

Abstract: Sensor data characterizing detected physical presence characteristics of customers visiting respective sites distributed about a commercial facility is obtained. Visitation patterns of different demographic groups of the customers to the sites are determined. A graphic visualization of one or more of the visitation patterns is generated.

Abstract: A connecting assembly of the present invention is used for connecting a first battery to a second battery. The connecting assembly includes a base plate, two side plates and two fixation plates. The base plate is provided for being placed on a top surface of the first battery. The side plates extend from the base plate and extend away from the first battery. The fixation plates extend lateral from the side plates. A predetermined distance is defined between the fixation plates and the base plate. The fixation plates are provided for the second battery to be connected therewith. As such, the second battery can be firmly assembled on the first battery by the connecting assembly. Batteries can be gathered up so as to be easily assembled.

Abstract: A system generates a representation of a layout of a page, where the layout has plural partitions that divide the page, and where the layout specifies one or plural cuts in the page that define the partitions. Exclusion zones are provided in respective partitions, where the exclusion zones define corresponding areas that are free of content that are to be inserted in the page.

Abstract: Methods, machines, systems and machine-readable instructions for producing marketing items are described. In one aspect, a user is prompted to specify campaign parameters, including one or more campaign topics, defining a scope of the campaign. The user is prompted to specify for each of the one or more campaign topics a corresponding set of one or more attributes of intended recipients of the marketing campaign. The one or more specified campaign topics are associated to respective sets of targeted recipients selected from a database of records of potential recipients based on mappings of the respective sets of recipient attributes to the campaign topics and the specified campaign parameters defining the scope of the marketing campaign. For each of the targeted recipients, a respective marketing item containing a respective set of one or more contents matched to the campaign topic associated to the targeted recipient is composed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention recite a system and method for creating an editable template from a document image. In one embodiment of the present invention, the spatial characteristics and the color characteristics of at least one region of a document are identified. A set of characteristics of a graphic representation within the region are then determined without the necessity of recognizing a character comprising the graphic representation. An editable template is then created comprising a second region having the same spatial characteristics and the same color characteristics of the at least one region of the document and comprising a second graphic representation which is defined by the set of characteristics of the first graphic representation.

Abstract: Methods, machines, and computer-readable media storing machine-readable instructions for segmenting pixels in an image are described. In one aspect, a region of background pixels is identified in the image. At least some of the background pixels in the region are located on a boundary spatially delimiting the region. One or more orientation-dependent adaptive thresholds are determined for one or more respective candidate growth directions from a given background pixel located on the region boundary. Color distances between the given background pixel and candidate pixels in a neighborhood of the given background pixel are determined. The region is grown based on application of the one or more orientation-dependent adaptive thresholds to the determined color distances.

Abstract: High frequency-weldable articles, such as sheets or yarns, include at least one high frequency-weldable part that is made from a modified polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material and that has a melting point ranging from 100° C. to 250° C. In one aspect, logical blocks that were extracted from the electronic document, including a text block comprising text lines each encompassed by a respective bounding rectangle, are received. Edges of ones of the bounding rectangles are extended to at least one boundary without changing layout relationships among the logical blocks in the electronic document. A text layout boundary is generated from extended and unextended edges of the bounding rectangles. A description of the text layout boundary is stored in a machine-readable medium.
