  • Publication number: 20070234277
Abstract: A model-driven approach to business performance management (BPM) uses a hybrid compilation-interpretation approach to map an observation model to a runtime executable. The data aspect of the observation model is first extracted and refactored to facilitate runtime access. Next, the operational aspect of the model, such as logic for metric computation and situation detection, is compiled into code. Finally, a runtime engine interprets the refactored model and dynamically loads the generated code, according to the meta-model.

  • Patent number: 7254589
Abstract: Standardized support for management of contextual relationships, which includes specification of the context hierarchy, association of relationships with a particular context, and derivation of transitive dependencies, is provided with a Context Manager service. The Context Manager provides a programmatic interface for defining contexts and the relationships therein. The Context Manager saves the relationship facts in one or more context stores, which are organized by contexts. The Context Manager interfaces with the Ontology Manager that processes queries on relationships with respect to a given set of contexts. The Context Manager provides a high-level abstraction for relationship management in a context. Developers of business solutions can then focus on the core business logic, without worrying about the details of storing and inferencing relationships.

  • Publication number: 20070162578
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product of using peer collaboration tools to extend the reach of applications by enabling the application to specify a modality policy that is predicated on end-user context when pushing an interaction to the end-user. Various collaboration technologies—including cell phones, email, instant messaging (IM), the short message service (SMS), and pagers—have emerged that people can use to interact with each other even when they are remote and/or mobile. Using collaboration tools as the interface to Web applications eliminates the applications' dependency on Web browsers and allows applications to be accessed even when a Web browser is not available. In addition, collaboration tools are capable of receiving “calls”, which can be exploited by applications to proactively initiate and push an interaction to end users.

  • Publication number: 20060040012
Abstract: A ball mold is composed of two half bodies and two hemispherical cavities respectively defined in the two half bodies to correspondingly match with each other to perform a ball-shaped interior inside the ball mold. Each of the two half bodies has an inner surface, at least one smooth area and at least one rough area; both areas are defined in the inner surface. Preferably, the smooth area has a gouged depth deeper than that of the rough area. Therefore, a ball molded by the ball mold has rough elevated portions corresponding to the rough areas on the ball mold and smooth recesses corresponding to the smooth areas on the ball mold. The ball only needs to be attached with pieces of artificial leather inside smooth recesses to be flush with the rough elevated portions. Thereby, the ball with two different surfaces is achieved in a convenient way without thermal pressing.

  • Publication number: 20060036752
Abstract: A system and method permits a user to observe the Quality of Service (QoS) of Web services and allows dynamic selection based on the user's preference. The system is built on QoS observation meta-model and comprises a QoS observation manager, service criteria generator, service repository, evaluation manager and service invocation manager. The QoS observation manager allows users to define observation model and deploy to the service criteria generator. The service criteria generator computes the QoS criteria values of services by subscribing events which include user feedback events and service execution events, based on deployed observation model. The service repository provides the persistence storage for QoS criteria value. The evaluation manager allows users to specify selection preferences and select services based on QoS ranking. The service invocation manger invokes Web services and publishes events according to the QoS of Web services.

  • Publication number: 20060031076
Abstract: A semantic publish/subscribe system enables semantic event routing and allows publishers (resp. subscribers) to use self-defined event schemas to publish (resp. subscribe) events. The constraints on value-based publish/subscribe systems that publishers and subscribers must share the same event schemas are removed. With ontology support, the system conducts event correlation based on their semantics using relational operators. Event sources are searched for subscriptions and selected events are automatically correlated according to subscriptions. The system enables efficient semantic event routing by rewriting the subscription SQL statement, wherein no redundant events are generated.

  • Publication number: 20050267765
Abstract: A model-driven and QoS-aware infrastructure facilitates the scalable composition of Web services in highly dynamic environments. An exception management framework supports two modes of exception management for business processes, providing a novel policy-driven approach to exception management implemented in the system infrastructure. Exception management is implemented in the system infrastructure, with exception handling policies supplied by individual business processes. Using the exception management framework, developers define exception policies in a declarative manner. Before a business process is executed, the service composition middleware integrates the exception policies with normal business logic to generate a complete process schema. This policy driven-approach can significantly reduce the development time of business processes through its separation of the development of the business logic and the exception handling policies.
