Abstract: A method for medical diagnostic image processing obtains digital image data for a diagnostic image and extracts one or more image features from the image data, obtaining one or more image properties from the one or more extracted features. An image quality aim is obtained for rendered image appearance according to one or more stored viewer preferences. Rendering parameters are generated according to the obtained image quality aim and the one or more obtained image properties. The image is rendered according to the generated rendering parameters and the rendering validated against the selected image quality aim.

Abstract: A drop test apparatus performs a drop test on a product. The drop test apparatus includes a drop control module and a support module. The drop control module includes a bottom plate and a support beam substantially perpendicularly attached to the bottom plate. The support module is attached at a predetermined height to the support beam and includes a lever for detecting whether the product is placed in a desired position. A support panel is disposed at a first end of the lever for supporting the product. A second end of the lever is under a predetermined force for maintaining the lever in a balanced state when the product is placed in the desired position.

Abstract: A drop test device for testing any deviation between the gravity line of an object and a defined vertical orientation includes a dropping machine and a drop panel installed on the dropping machine. The drop panel includes a support board, a plurality of restriction boards fixed on the support board, a plurality of rollers mounted on the support board and a sliding board positioned on the plurality of rollers for supporting the object. The sliding board is positioned between the plurality of restriction boards and slides on the plurality of rollers. If the gravity line of the object is not on the same line as a supportive strength line of the object, the sliding board moves on the support board and triggers the plurality of restriction boards.

Abstract: A detecting device for performing fatigue tests on a pivoting piece includes a clamping module and an actuating module. The clamping module clamps the pivoting piece. The actuating module includes an elastic actuating shaft abutting the clamping module and a resilient member mounted in the elastic actuating shaft. The resilient member is adapted to push forward against spring pressure and retract by the release of spring tension so as to achieve cyclic movements in the pivoting piece.

Abstract: A method for forming a solar battery assembly is provided, comprising: a) performing cold vacuuming at a temperature ranging from about 0° C. to about 50° C. and hot vacuuming at a temperature ranging from about 50° C. to about 200° C. to a glass plate, a plurality of solar cells and a back sheet that are laminated in turn and adhered together; and b) treating the laminated glass plate, plurality of solar cells and back sheet obtained in step (a) at a temperature ranging from about 100° C. to about 200° C. and a pressure ranging from about 0.5 MPa to about 1.5 MPa to obtain the solar battery assembly. Abstract: This invention provides for an off-the-record e-mail system that can ensure that messages, particularly sensitive messages, are available only for the intended recipient and never reside on permanent storage media. Control of the existence of the off-the-record e-mail can lie completely with the sender. The sender of the off-the-record e-mail sets the time-to-live (TTL) for the message content. When an off-the-record e-mail message is deleted, there is preferably no trace of the e-mail message on any computer backup system. The sender may also update the e-mail content at any time. The off-the-record e-mail system can include a personal server that combines the functions of a web server and an e-mail transfer server. The personal server may reside on an individual's personal workstation and might serve no one but that particular user. The personal server acts as a broker between the sender and the sender's SMTP server.

Abstract: Methods and systems for using a mobile terminal as a location-based reminder are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include a mobile terminal receiving a wireless signal comprising network identifying information, which may be, for example, a wireless network identifier string. The wireless network identifier string may be, for example, an extended service set IDs (ESSID) of WiFi access points in accordance with IEEE 802.1x. The received wireless network identifier may be authenticated, where the authentication may comprise using a SSL protocol or 802.1x/EAP-TTLS protocol. The mobile terminal may compare a keyword corresponding to a record stored within the mobile terminal with the wireless network identifier string. If the keyword is found in the wireless network identifier string, a notification may be generated to alert a user of the mobile terminal.

Abstract: A fast authentication and access control method of authenticating a network access device to a communications network having an access point communicating with a remote authentication (home AAA) server for the network access device. The method includes the step of receiving an access request having an authentication credential from the network access device at the access point. The authentication credential includes a security certificate having a public key for the network access device and an expiration time. The security certificate is signed with a private key for the remote authentication server. The access point locally validates the authentication credential by accessing the public key of the remote authentication server from a local database, and checking the signature and expiration time of the security certificate.

Abstract: A method and system for preventing packet loss during handoff of a mobile host between access networks. In accordance with an aspect of the invention, a home agent on a network maintains a FIFO (First In-First Out) buffer for every mobile host that it serves. When a packet destined for a particular mobile host is received at the home agent, it is assigned an incremental sequence number, encapsulated as an IP packet, and forwarded to the mobile host with the sequence number as an identifier. The packet and sequence number are thereafter stored in the buffer for a period of time after the packet was forwarded to the mobile host. After hand-off to the arriving network is completed, the mobile host sends the sequence number of the last-received IP packet to the home agent and the new care-of IP address. Using this sequence number, the home agent then determines whether any incoming packets had been routed to the previous care-of IP address.

Abstract: A protocol framework for a Secure IP Access (SIA) method, and supporting components deployed on IP hosts and IP networks. Using this method, an IP host can establish a secure data channel within an IP network over an insecure shared link while requesting IP address and networking configuration parameters from the IP network. A system administrator can implement strong access control against various attacks that an edge IP network may have to face, such as a denial-of-service attack that exhausts assignable IP addresses. This is a lightweight, scalable, and backward-compatible solution that can improve security performance for public and corporate LANs having open access such as wireless access points and Ethernet jacks.

Abstract: A system for discovering information related to diagnostic imaging performance at a medical imaging site. The system includes at least one database of stored digital diagnostic images; and a user instruction interface for obtaining an operator request for information related to image quality of the stored digital diagnostic images. A data processor is in communication with the at least one database, the data processor being programmed with instructions to use only information found within the stored digital diagnostic images themselves. A data mining engine is in communication with the data processor, the data mining engine being programmed with instructions to use only information found within the retrieved digital diagnostic images themselves.

Abstract: A system and method for providing silent conversation capability in a mobile communication device. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise establishing a wireless communication link between the mobile communication device and a second communication device. A user input may be received at the mobile communication device. A voice message may be determined from a plurality of voice messages based, at least in part, on the user input. Such determination may, for example, comprise selecting a voice message from a plurality of prerecorded voice messages and/or determining a voice message to be synthesized. The determined voice message may then be communicated to the second communication device. For example, the determined voice message may be communicated to the second communication device in such a way that people in the proximity of the mobile communication device might not hear the determined voice message.

Abstract: A rate-adaptive method of communicating over a multipath wireless communication system uses multiple links such that each end of a link uses multiple transmit and receive antennas. A number of independent streams that are to be transmitted for each link is determined based on an overall system performance measure. In addition, the system may also jointly determine the best modulation, coding, power control, and frequency assignment for each link, based on an overall system performance measure. In OFDM systems, the number of independent streams, as well as the modulation, coding, and power control, may be determined on a tone-by-tone basis based on an overall system performance measure.
