Publication number: 20210085347Abstract: The present invention provides a catheter for treating occlusions in blood vessels. The catheter includes at least one electrode pair positioned inside of a flexible angioplasty balloon at the distal end of the catheter. In some designs, the electrode pairs are arranged in a low-profile or coplanar configuration, reducing the diameter of the distal end of the device and permitting treatment of tight and hard-to-cross occlusions. The flexible angioplasty balloon has an extremely low profile and does need to be folded before insertion of the catheter into the cardiovascular system. During treatment, the balloon can be expanded a relatively small amount sufficient to immerse the electrode pairs in a conductive fluid before generating shock waves across the electrodes to treat the occlusion. The balloon can be made of material having elastomeric properties such that it returns to its original low profile configuration when it is deflated following treatment.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2020Publication date: March 25, 2021Inventors: Huy PHAN, Hoa NGUYEN, Chi LONG, Todd JENKINS

Patent number: 10545958Abstract: In various embodiments, methods and systems for language scaling a natural language processing system (NLPS) are provided. A database schema of a database is accessed. The database schema includes entities that are defined in a query natural language different from an NLPS natural language upon which NLPS components are built. The entities are communicated to a machine translation service and top translations. A translated database schema model is generated based on the entities and translations. When a query associated with the query natural language and the database schema is received, a query translation is generated. The query translation comprises selectively translated portions of the query based on a selective translation mechanism that includes accessing the machine translation service to translate selected portions of the query. The selected portions are selected based on the translated database schema. The query translation is executed on the NLPS components to identify query results.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2015Date of Patent: January 28, 2020Assignee: MICROSOFT TECHNOLOGY LICENSING, LLCInventors: Saliha Azzam, Gaurav Agarwal, Tu Huy Phan, Nicholas Van Joseph Caldwell, Ahmed Mohamed Elbahtemy

Publication number: 20200008868Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering energy to passageways in a patient, such as airways in the lung of a patient for treating asthma. One embodiment of a method for delivering energy to a passageway comprises positioning an access device in a lung airway of a patient and advancing an elongated body of a treatment device along the access device until an energy delivery unit at a distal portion of the elongated body projects from the access device. The method can further include expanding the energy delivery unit such that energy delivery elements contact a sidewall of the airway and activating an energy supply coupled to the treatment device such that energy is delivered to the sidewall of the airway. A single person physically operates both the access device and the treatment device while expanding the energy delivery unit and activating the energy supply.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2019Publication date: January 9, 2020Applicant: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.Inventors: Noah Webster, Timothy Dalbec, Huy Phan, William Wizeman, William Evans, Matthew Presta

Publication number: 20170169340Abstract: Methods and systems for aiding users in generating object pattern designs with increased speed. In particular, one or more embodiments train a sequence-based machine-learning model using training objects, each training object including a plurality of regions with a plurality of design elements. One or more embodiments identify a plurality regions of an object with a first region adjacent a second region. One or more embodiments receive a user selection of a design element for populating the first region with a first design element from a plurality of design elements. One or more embodiments identify a second design element from the plurality of design elements based on the first design element using the trained sequence-based machine-learning model. One or more embodiments also populate the second region with one or more instances of the second design element.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2015Publication date: June 15, 2017Inventors: Paul Asente, Jingwan Lu, Huy Phan

Patent number: 9555165Abstract: Tubing made of two or more polymers circumferentially arranged around the perimeter of the tubing in a single layer may be useful as medical tubing. Specifically, such tubing may be useful in catheters, sheaths, sheath introducers, implant delivery systems, and other medical devices having elongated tubular components. Selection of the two or more polymers based on the durometer and melting temperature permits optimization of axial strength and flexibility for particular applications. Such tubing may be extruded as a single layer tubing or a multi-layer tubing where the additional layers may be single material layers or more multi-polymer layers.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2011Date of Patent: January 31, 2017Assignee: Cordis CorporationInventor: Huy Phan
