  • Patent number: 7324432
Abstract: An apparatus of compensating for a frequency offset using a guard interval and a pilot symbol, which are inserted at a transmitter, in an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system. The OFDM system receives an OFDM signal in which a pilot symbol is inserted in data of a frame unit at regular intervals and a guard interval is inserted in a data symbol. In the system, a first carrier synchronizer receives a data symbol stream obtained by converting the OFDM signal to digital data, and detects a guard interval of each data symbol, to compensate for a coarse frequency offset. A fast Fourier transform part OFDM-demodulates a signal output from the first carrier synchronizer. A second carrier synchronizer detects the pilot symbol from the demodulated data symbol stream to compensate for a fine frequency error.

  • Publication number: 20070274342
Abstract: A method for retransmitting high-speed packet data in a transmission apparatus of a mobile communication system that simultaneously performs Automatic Retransmission reQuest (ARQ) that retransmits an ARQ packet reconfigured by allocating a sequence number to data delivered from an upper layer, and Hybrid Automatic Retransmission reQuest (HARQ) that multiplexes a plurality of ARQ packets into one HARQ packet and performs repeated retransmission on the HARQ packet within a maximum retransmission limit value. A transmitting HARQ entity checks a missing ARQ packet and sends a Negative Acknowledgement (NACK) for the missing ARQ packet to a transmitting ARQ entity. The transmitting ARQ entity receives an Acknowledged (ACK) for ARQ packets from a receiving ARQ entity, detects at least one missing ARQ packet according to the NACK and the ACK, configures a retransmission packet with the detected ARQ packet, and retransmits the retransmission packet.

  • Publication number: 20060165041
Abstract: An apparatus and method for acquiring a pilot channel in a code division multiple access (CDMA) system. A signal strength detector detects signal strength values for all pseudo-random noise (PN) hypotheses from a despread received signal. A PN hypothesis selector selects PN hypotheses whose detected signal strength values are greater than or equal to a particular threshold. A searcher controller sorts the selected PN hypotheses in order of a high signal strength value, and generates PN sequences in the order of the high signal strength value. A PN sequence generator generates PN sequences for the PN hypotheses. A PN mask shifts a signal output of the PN sequence generator to a position of a PN hypothesis, according to signal strength.

  • Patent number: 6888518
Abstract: A highly-efficient device and method for driving a plasma display panel, by which the voltage stresses of circuit elements, which constitute the driving device, are significantly reduced, and power consumption and heat emission are accordingly reduced. Charging and discharging modes, which constitute a sustain mode, are divided into two first and second charging modes, which are pre-charging and post-charging modes, and two first and second discharging modes, which are pre-discharging and post-discharging modes, respectively. The plasma display driving device is designed so that the two charging modes form different resonance paths passing through different inductors, and the two discharging modes also form different resonance paths passing through different inductors. Consequently, voltage stresses applied to the elements of the driving device are halved.
