  • Patent number: 4547929
Abstract: This invention relates to a spring biased shifting pivoting center hinge for swinging doors wherein the hinge pin rigidly affixed to the first swinging half of the hinge pivotably and shiftably engages a slotted hole with a spring bias that is included in the second swinging half of the hinge. The spring bias resiliently retains the hinge pin at one extremity of the slotted hole when there is no external constraint as in the case of a fully closed or fully open swinging door fitted flush to the front face of the door frame. When the swinging door is pulled open or pushed shut, the edge of the door adjacent to the hinge interferes with the door frame and the hinge pin is forced to shift toward the other extremity of the slotted hole against the spring bias; whereby, the interference between the door edge adjacent to the hinge and the door frame is alleviated for the full range of the swing for the swinging door.

  • Patent number: 4546502
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for disposing of human waste wherein the liquid waste is evaporated off and the solid waste is dehydrated for easy disposal. A preseparating toilet bowl roughly separates the urinous wastes and the toilet rinse water from the fecal wastes and other solid wastes dumped into the preseparating toilet bowl. The liquid waste separated from the solid waste flows into an evaporator wherein it is evaporated into the atmosphere by means of air currents circulated through the evaporator. The solid waste drops into a dryer or incinerator wherein it is dehydrated by the heat or vacuum drying process, or a combination thereof, or incinerated by an electric heater or gas burner. The dried solid waste may be bagged and used as a fertilizer or it may be taken to a centralized incinerating plant.

  • Patent number: 4546792
Abstract: This invention relates to a check valve having a straight-through flow passage wherein a ball-plug of a cylindrical geometry with a hemispherical end is pendulously confined in a cavity included in the valve body. The ball-plug has a through-hole with the central axis substantially passing through the center of a spherical surface including the hemispherical end of the ball-plug, which central axis substantially intersects the central axis of the ball-plug in an oblique angle. The ball-plug is pendulously confined in the cavity within the valve body by a trunnion in such a way that the ball plug is allowed to swing on a plane including the central axis of the flow passage of the check valve passing through the cavity confining the ball plug and the central axis of the ball plug. At one extreme position in the swinging movement, the through-hole included in the ball plug lines-up with the flow passage allowing straight-through flow for the fluid from one extremity to the other extremity of the check valve.

  • Patent number: 4439045
Abstract: This invention relates to a mixing vessel employed in the mixing and agitation of the slurry in the mineral and chemical processing. The mixing vessel of the present invention comprises a cylindrical vessel and one or more propellers rotatably disposed within said cylindrical vessel adjacent to the cylindrical wall wherein the axis of the rotation of said one or more propellers is substantially perpendicular to the central axis of said cylindrical vessel; whereby, the rotation of said one or more propellers generates the thrust substantially tangential to the cylindrical wall of said cylindrical vessel and, thus, creates a rotating motion of the slurry contained in said cylindrical vessel about the central axis of said cylindrical vessel for the mixing and agitation of the slurry. Said rotational mixing vessel provides an advantage in saving the energy consumption required by the mixing vessel as well as the power consumption by the aerating vessel.

  • Patent number: 4431184
Abstract: The invention is an aerial gymnastic exerciser having a pair of handles depending from cords threaded through compound pulley systems located between upper and lower supports with a body harness depending from the lower support. Increase or decrease in resistance to operation of the exerciser by an operator suspended in the harness and pulling on the handles is achieved by a plurality of removable weights depending from one end of cords passing upward and over part of the pulley systems and back downward with the other ends secured to the handles. Other modifications for resistance can be by either removable weights secured to the lower support, or by removable clothespin type springs with respective ends of each removably secured to the upper and lower supports or by use of both the removable weights and springs. Resistance can also be adjusted by how much the pulley systems are compounded.
