  • Patent number: 4391572
Abstract: A pump functioning as a vacuum pump or a pressure pump employing the angular position belt valve is disclosed. Said angular position belt valve comprises a plurality of axial holes disposed within a cylindrical pulley, each of which axial holes has one or more openings to the cylindrical surface of said pulley, which is wrapped by a belt over a predetermined wrap angle. When said pulley is rotated, said holes remain closed by the belt as long as those holes are within the wrap angle. When said holes are rotated out of the wrap angle, those holes become open instantly until they are rotated back into the wrap angle.

  • Patent number: 4326811
Abstract: A new mixing vessel is disclosed, which vessel enables a sizable saving of the energy required for the mixing compared with the conventional mixing vessel. The vessel comprises a propeller disposed adjacent to the side wall of a cylindrical tank disposed horizontally, which propeller generates a thrust tangential to the cylindrical vessel wall that creates the mixing motion of the slurry rotating about the axis of the cylindrical vessel. In said arrangement of the cylindrical vessel and the propeller, the propeller shaft is perpendicular to the vessel axis. Therefore, two or more propellers mixing slurries in two or more vessels can be driven by a single shaft disposed through the horizontal cylindrical vessels disposed in a parallel alignment. The bearing supporting the head-end of the driving shaft can be enclosed within a flange sealed with a blind flange, which flange is disposed onto the first mixing vessel in line with the spools housing the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4322056
Abstract: This invention relates to a valve wherein the valve disc is actively pressured onto the valve seat for a positive closure by means of a compressive force exerted on the stem which is linked to the center of the valve disc at a slanted angle. A tensile force applied to the stem disengages the valve disc from the valve seat that facilitates the opening and closing action of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4304280
Abstract: A snow chain for the automobile tires employing a single or a plurality of traction cords disposed circumferentially over the tread surface of the tire in a zig-zag pattern or diamond pattern, which traction cords are held in position by a pair of star-shaped tie cord assembly respectively disposed on each side of the tire, is disclosed. The outer points of each of said star-shaped tie cord assembly are connected to said traction cord in such a way that the tension on tie cords stretches the traction cord into a zig-zag or diamond pattern as said traction cord is being tightened over the tire tread surface. The inner points of each of said star-shaped tie cord assembly are slidably engaged by a retaining cord, which sliding relationship enables the retaining cord loop to expand and be slipped over the circumference of the tire, which arrangement ensures the easy installation and take off of said snow-chain.

  • Patent number: 4286922
Abstract: A device converting the kinetic energy belonging to the moving stream of fluid such as the wind, river stream and gulf stream is disclosed. Said device is comprised of two or more blades revolving about the central axis, which blades are mechanically linked to said central axis wherein each of said blades completes a half rotation about its own axis when it completes a complete revolution about said central axis. Each of blades further includes a pair of flaps rotatably disposed on each edge of said blade, which flaps are mechanically linked to the rotating and revolving motion of the blade wherein said flaps are automatically deflected to provide a suitable camber to the blades to generate a lift force on the blade.

  • Patent number: 4282695
Abstract: A grille comprised of a plurality of the thin strips and bars made of the steel or plastics is disclosed, which grille is assembled without using any welding or bonding. The thin strips have a series of equally spaced notches cut out along the edge of said strips, which notches are of a rectangular shape of width slightly greater than the thickness of said strip and of depth approximately equal to the one half of the width of said strip. Said strips further include a series of holes disposed intermediate each pair of adjacent notches. First half of the grille assembly is formed by the plurality of said strips forming a network wherein the notches on the strips crossing each other engage one another at each crossing point. The last half of the grille assembly is composed of bars threaded through said holes on the strips which bars forms another network wherein bars crossing each other are interlaced to one another.

  • Patent number: 4261404
Abstract: The present invention is related to a snow chain for the automobile tires employing a traction cord disposed around the tread surface of the tire in a zig-zag pattern, which traction cord is retained in the position by a pair of star-shaped tie cords respectively disposed on each side of the tire and held in position by a pair of retaining cords, respectively. Said snow chain is constructed of one or more pieces of the continuous cords eliminating the need of the splicing of the traction cord.

  • Patent number: 4125338
Abstract: A new method of joining boards in the "Cross" connection, "Tee" connection and "Angle" connection is disclosed, which type of connections are widely employed in constructing book shelves, cabinets, etc. Said method of joining boards comprising at a rectangular bar with grooves formed into each of four sides of the bar resulting in a quatrefoil-shaped cross section of the bar and a "cross," "tee" or "angle" made of a metallic rod. The boards to be joined have a hole disposed at the end face, which hole receives an arm of said "cross," "tee" or "angle" depending on the type of joint. The end face of the board has a protrusion built parallel to the plane of the board, which protrusion has a narrower dimension at the root resulting in a cross section similar to that of a rail road. Of course, said grooves formed on said rectangular bar has matching cross sections to receive said rail-like protrusions on the end face of the board in a sliding relationship.
