  • Patent number: 6890491
Abstract: A universal fluid exchange device includes upper and lower reaction vessel supports which include pressure sealed injection and evacuation ports for each supported reaction vessel. Reaction vessels matingly engage through the injection and evacuation ports with fittings which are connected through flexible tubing to respective supplying and receiving vessels. The reaction vessels or fittings are moved into position, as required, so that reactants may be directly supplied from supplying vessels in the order and amount desired without operation of valves that can become contaminated, and so that the reaction vessels may dispel their contents into the appropriate receiving vessels. The system may be highly advantageous in applications such as combinatorial chemistry where myriad combinations of chemicals, solvents and reagents are employed.

  • Patent number: 6858189
Abstract: A reactor including a rotatable disc (3) having a trough (13) in an upper surface (5) thereof. Reactant (15) is supplied to the trough (13) by way or a feed (4), the disc (3) is rotated at high speed, and the reactant (15) spills out of the trough (13) so as to form a film (17) on the surface (5). • Patent number: 6735999
Abstract: A calibration spring tension adjuster for a seat belt tension sensor has a calibration spring, and a holder. The fixed part and the movable part are adjacent to each other and comprise mutually facing stepped helical faces arranged so that the movable part can be rotated relative to the fixed part causing the steps to slide over each other causing a gap between the stepped faces to increase and compressing the spring. The steps can be arranged so that movement of the movable part in one direction is resisted. The holder is arranged to attach to the fixed part and the spring is held between an abutment face of the holder and a non-stepped face of the movable part.

Abstract: A reactor including a rotatable disc (3) having a region (13) in an upper surface (5) thereof. Reactant (15) is supplied to the region (13) by way of a feed (4), the disc (3) is rotated at high speed, and the reactant (15) moves from the region (13) so as to form a film (17) on the surface (5). • Patent number: 5851494
Abstract: A solid phase synthesis reaction vessel includes a vessel with a first inlet, a second inlet, and an outlet. A first stopcock is disposed within the first inlet and a second stopcock is disposed within the outlet. Solid phase material is prevented from escaping the reaction vessel via the outlet while allowing fluid to flow through the outlet by a frit. In one embodiment, the reaction vessel includes an outer hollow shell surrounding the vessel to allow cooling or heating fluid to flow therein for controlling the temperature in the interior reaction volume. The solid phase synthesis reaction vessel provides for the independent opening and closing of each of the inlets and outlet to provide for various ways of draining the vessel, varying the conditions within the vessel, and/or adding additional materials into the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5535286
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting errors in frames of seismic data that can be presented as images, such images being expected to exhibit an inherent symmetry about an axis, the apparatus comprising: a storage device for storing a frame of seismic data which can be presented as an image; a selection device for selecting an axis within the image as the axis of symmetry; a divider for dividing the data about the axis of symmetry to create first and second sets of data; and a comparison means for comparing the sets of data according to preselected matching criteria to determine, based on the degree of matching, whether the extent of mismatch in the frame of data is within a predetermined tolerance.

  • Patent number: 4953612
Abstract: A composite article having a first and a second metal component, and a resultant composite metal article, wherein a flux coating is applied over at least a substantially oxide-free bond surface of the first component, the first component with the flux coating is preheated and, with the first component positioned in a mold to fill a portion of a cavity of the mold, a melt for providing the second component is poured into the mold so as to flow over the bond surface; the first component being preheated to a first temperature and the melt being poured at a second temperature such that, on flowing over the bond surface, the melt displaces the flux coating and wets the bond surface, and that such initial temperature equilibration between the surface and the melt results in an interface temperature therebetween at least equal to the liquidus temperature of the melt, thereby resulting on solidification of the melt in attainment of a bond between the components.

  • Patent number: 4833484
Abstract: An earth terminal for a satellite communication system incorporates an oval or eliptical shaped antenna 1 whose horizontal dimension d.sub.1 is greater than it's vertical dimension d.sub.2. The relatively small dimension d.sub.2 allows the antenna to be transported by road while at the same time giving a beam shape which is broader in elevation than in azimuth. This special beam shape gives certain advantages which are described in the specification.

  • Patent number: 4066940
Abstract: A control apparatus for supplying a load device, such as a motor, from a d.c. supply, by means of semiconductor control devices, particularly controlled rectifiers. A capacitor is charged through the load, through a circuit including one semiconductor control device, and the capacitor is then discharged through the load, direction of current flow through the load the same as the charging current, by a second semiconductor control device. The frequency of operation is variable; the apparatus can be adapted to give current flow always in one direction or always in the opposite direction through the load.
