  • Publication number: 20140109393
Abstract: An assembly method for first and second articles is disclosed. A first substrate with a plurality of first articles and a second substrate with a plurality of second articles are selected. The articles on the flexible substrate webs with different pitches are assembled together by displacing portions between the first articles of one web out of plane to move the first articles on that web to the same shorter pitch as the second articles on the other web, aligning the two webs to register corresponding first and second articles on the two webs, and assembling the corresponding articles together. The assembly may be used for example in the making of RFID tags, labels and inlays.

  • Publication number: 20140105245
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for determining the temperature of an object. Such devices and methods incorporate first and second thermally conductive members, with a heating member associated with the first thermally conductive member. The second thermally conductive member is positionable adjacent to the object. The heating member is heated to a known temperature and a probe member is alternately brought into contact with the first and second thermally conductive members. When the probe member is in contact with one of the thermally conductive members, it will send an input to the controller. The controller compares the inputs to each other and, if they are not substantially equal, changes the temperature of the heating member, and the probe member is again alternately brought into contact with the thermally conductive members. When the inputs are substantially equal, the controller generates an output based on the temperature of the heating member.

  • Publication number: 20140061985
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for applying adhesive to a string of pocketed coil springs during manufacture of an innerspring assembly, which apparatus comprises a plurality of independently actuatable adhesive applicators, each having a different transverse position relative to a longitudinal axis of the string of pocketed coil springs, and means for causing relative movement between the string of pocketed coil springs and the plurality of adhesive applicators, along a longitudinal axis of the string. The apparatus is adapted to apply adhesive to the string of pocketed coil springs, during relative movement between the first string of pocketed coil springs and the plurality of adhesive applicators, in a pattern that varies between at least some pockets of the string of pocketed coil springs.

  • Patent number: 8657026
Abstract: A harrow includes plural hydraulic actuators to displace respective working elements between opposing first and second positions. The actuators are connected in series in a phasing relationship to define one or more hydraulic circuits. Each circuit includes a lead actuator mounted in a first orientation to displace the respective working elements in a first direction when extended and a secondary actuator in series with the lead actuator in an opposing second orientation to displace the respective working elements in the first direction when retracted. One of the ports of the secondary actuator is coupled to the same one of the ports of the lead actuator such that all of the working elements are simultaneously displaced in a common direction when supplying hydraulic fluid under pressure to the lead actuator. Additional actuators may be similarly connected in series in alternating orientations with the lead and secondary actuators of each circuit.

  • Publication number: 20140039856
Abstract: A process simulation modeling system is described, in which a computer-readable storage medium contains a model of a process or operation affected by a number of parameters. A process model maintained in a first data structure, and a plurality of process modifications in a second data structure, wherein one or more of the plurality of process modifications relate to the portion of the model of the process that is dependent upon the subset of the plurality of parameters, such that only a change in the subset of the plurality of parameters affect the portion of the model, and wherein the computer is programmably arranged to generate an output representing the effect of the change in the subset of the plurality of parameters on the model of the process.
