Patent number: 9284852Abstract: A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harness to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The FPCB harness is held to the gas turbine engine installation using clips. The clips have a jaw that has two sets of opposing teeth extending from a base, and a mouth through which the FPCB harness is inserted. The teeth point in a direction that has a component from the mouth to the teeth. This means that the force required to insert the FPCB harness into the clip is lower than the force required to pull the FPCB harness out of the clip in the opposite direction. This means that the FPCB harness can be secured in place while aiding ease of assembly.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2012Date of Patent: March 15, 2016Assignee: ROLLS-ROYCE plcInventors: Ian Mark Parry-Jones, Jaspal Singh Johal, Alec Richard Groom

Patent number: 9255521Abstract: A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a plurality of flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harnesses to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The plurality of FPCB harnesses is held to the gas turbine engine installation using generally U-shaped clips that have a base from which first and second sidewalls extend. The FPCB harness is held between the tips of base-teeth extending from the base, and side-teeth extending from the first and second sidewalls. In this way, the FPCB harness can be held securely in position by the clip.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2012Date of Patent: February 9, 2016Assignee: ROLLS-ROYCE plcInventors: Ian Mark Parry-Jones, Jaspal Singh Johal

Patent number: 9019722Abstract: A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a plurality of flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harnesses to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The plurality of FPCB harnesses is held to the gas turbine engine installation using clips that have at least two jaws. Each jaw has two sets of opposing teeth that do not intermesh, and cannot intermesh when pushed together. This allows more than one FPCB harness to be held by one clip without the risk of damaging the FPCB harnesses. Preventing the teeth from intermeshing also allows subsequent FPCB harnesses to be inserted into the clip without undue difficulty even after a first FPCB harness has already been inserted.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2012Date of Patent: April 28, 2015Assignee: Rolls-Royce plcInventors: Ian Mark Parry-Jones, Jaspal Singh Johal

Patent number: 8510346Abstract: One aspect of the present invention can include a method, a computer program product, an apparatus, and a system for handling Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) updates to entities. The aspect can receive at least one update to be applied to a UDDI entity within a UDDI registry. Each received update can be applied to the related UDDI entity. At least one subscriber of the updated entity can be determined. A status indicator for each detected subscriber can be changed to indicate that a subscription to the entity has been deleted, wherein the change to the status indicator negates a need to scan the subscriptions associated with the entity for each received update to the entity.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2008Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventor: Ian Mark Hodges

Publication number: 20130202027Abstract: There is provided a method for clock reference insertion during packetization of an encoded data stream, wherein said packetization is performed before buffering of the data stream. The method comprises storing the value of each bit rate applied during encoding, and the duration of time for which each bit rate is applied. A clock reference time interval is converted into a clock reference data interval using the value of each bit rate applied and the duration of time for which each bit rate is applied. The clock reference data interval is used to determine where to insert a clock reference into the data stream during packetization.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2010Publication date: August 8, 2013Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Ian Marks, Ryan Spicer

Publication number: 20130112194Abstract: A process for filling a canister for an inhaler is provided. The canister may be filled with components of a medicament. The canister may be suitable for use in a pressurised metered dose inhaler, such as a breath-actuate inhaler. The process may include sealing the canister with air at ambient conditions. A filling device may dispense a pressurised liquid or gas into the sealed, air-filled canister through a metering valve. The pressurised liquid or gas may comprise at least a propellant. While pressure-filled canisters were previously purged with propellant immediately before sealing to remove the air, the present process may exclude the purging step.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2011Publication date: May 9, 2013Inventors: Simon Christopher Berry, Agnes Claude Marcelle Pierrette Colombani, Ian Mark Fletcher, Duncan Charles Dickie, Andrew John Ludzik, Darren James Hodson, Robert Bernard Jansen, Katherine Jane Lee, Julie Page

Patent number: 7383155Abstract: The invention provides a tool and method for monitoring and evaluating any industrial or commercial process, activity or system or the personnel carrying out that process, activity or system against a set of Performance Drivers for the process, activity or system; and for assessing the efficiency, capability or sustainability of that process, activity or system as a result of the monitoring. By utilizing both a weighting between each of the different statements and questions used to derive performance and compliance data from persons polled for input and a numerical maturity value given to the mean responses from different groups of those persons polled, the analysis of the data against the associated Performance Drivers permits the generation of assessment reports that assess compliance against individual statements and indicate the potential cause of any failure of the process, activity or system to attain its targets.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2005Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Inventors: Ian Mark Rosam, Robert Clive Peddle
