  • Patent number: 11162240
Abstract: The present invention is a hydraulic excavation and delivery device capable of hydraulically removing soil overburden from a buried structure, like a pipeline, and delivering an article, such as an electro-mechanical connector for attachment to the buried structure. Hydraulic excavation is achieved by directing a stream of fluid at soil adjacent to and inside an open bottom region of the device to simultaneously dislodge adjacent soil, suspend dislodged soil in the accumulating fluid and form a pit that the device may fit within. Delivery of article is achieved by: (1) loading an article into the tool; (2) advancing the device toward the buried structure by deepening the pit without significant failure (slumping or sagging) of the pit walls until a portion of the buried structure is exposed and within the device; (3) landing the device on the exposed portion of the structure; (4) fixing the article to the exposed portion of the structure; and (5) releasing the article from the device.

  • Patent number: 11119862
Abstract: Method and apparatus for managing data in a distributed data storage system, such as but not limited to a cloud computing environment. In some embodiments, snapshots of a data set are uploaded from a source storage subsystem to a cloud store, along with intervening difference information volumes (DIVs). The DIVs are data structures that identify a set of updated data blocks that have been changed by the source storage subsystem between each successive pair of the snapshots. A reader subsystem requests and uses the latest DIV to request the latest set of changed data blocks from the cloud store, and uses the latest set of changed data blocks to update a previous snapshot to generate a copy of the most recent snapshot. The source and reader subsystems can comprise Internet of Things (IoT) devices, client devices, edge computing devices, etc. from different vendors and which utilize different protocols.

  • Publication number: 20210255027
Abstract: A system of detecting loading and unloading of mobile containers such as grain carts utilizes two low pass filters to determine whether the contents of the container are changing by subtracting one filter signal from the other, and using the sign of the difference. Weighing performance is improved by utilizing accelerometers to compensate for measurement dynamics and non-level orientation. Failure and degradation of weight sensors is detected by testing sensor half bridges. Loading and unloading weights can be tied to specific vehicles by utilizing RF beacons.
