  • Publication number: 20160090170
Abstract: An aircraft comprises a foldable wing, the wing comprising an inner region and an outer region, such as a wing tip. The outer region is moveable relative to the inner region between a flight configuration and a ground configuration in which the span is reduced. The aircraft comprises a control system and a control interface. The control interface comprises a selector for selecting the desired configuration of the outer region, and is arrange to provide: a first output, such as a light, when the flight configuration is selected and the outer region is in the flight configuration; a second output, such an amber light, when the ground configuration is selected and the outer region is in the ground configuration; and a third output, such as a red light, when the outer region is not in the selected configuration.

  • Publication number: 20160023750
Abstract: An aircraft landing gear including: a sprung arm mounted to a main pivot and carrying one or more wheels; leaf springs; a transfer arm attached to each of the leaf springs; and a swinging link with a first end which is pivotally coupled to the sprung arm via a first swinging link pivot and a second end which is pivotally coupled to the transfer arm via a second swinging link pivot. The leaf springs are arranged to provide a resilient biasing force via the transfer arm and the swinging link which opposes rotation of the sprung arm about the main pivot. Each leaf spring only absorbs a portion of the landing loads, so load and stress levels in each individual spring are lower. The swinging link enables the leaf springs to be positioned remotely from the sprung arm, in a suitable position to optimise the use of space and distribute loads efficiently into the airframe.

  • Publication number: 20150308084
Abstract: A control system includes a water delivery device and a communications bridge. The water delivery device includes a mixing valve, a controller configured to control the mixing valve, and a first optical communications interface coupled to the controller. The communications bridge includes a second optical communications interface and a separate data communications interface. The communications bridge is configured to exchange information with the water delivery device using optical communications via the first and second optical communications interfaces, and to exchange information with a user device using electronic data communications between the user via and the data communications interface.

  • Publication number: 20150308089
Abstract: A water delivery device includes a body, a user interface, a micro-mixing valve, first and second capacitive sensors, and a controller. The body includes a base and a spout. The user interface is provided on the spout. The micro-mixing valve is contained within the body and is in fluid communication with a hot water source and a cold water source. The first capacitive sensor is provided below the user interface. The second capacitive sensor is provided below the user interface and is spaced apart from the first capacitive sensor. The controller is operatively connected to the first capacitive sensor, the second capacitive sensor, and the micro-mixing valve. Each of the first and second capacitive sensors is configured to be independently activated by a user to transmit a signal to the controller to increase or decrease a temperature of a flow of water flowing from the micro-mixing valve.

  • Patent number: 8651594
Abstract: A bedside cabinet comprises a body (10) carrying two drawers (12) and (14) all made from synthetic plastics material by rotational molding. The body (10) comprises a proximal wall (16) and a distal wall (18) each extending upward from a generally horizontal platform (20), and a horizontal top (22) extending between the proximal wall (16) and the distal wall (18). An upstand (28) carries a horizontal shelf (30) extending partly over the top (22) and both the top (22) and the shelf (30) are directed towards the proximal side of the cabinet, having raised lips (32) and (34) respectively around their distal edges and their ends. The cabinet lacks dirt traps and is easily cleaned. In addition the drawers (12) and (14) are reversible so as to open forwards whether the cabinet is on the right-hand side or the left-hand side of a bed.

  • Patent number: 8640988
Abstract: An aircraft landing gear comprising: an arm mounted to a pivot and carrying one or more wheel assemblies; and a composite leaf spring which is coupled to the arm and arranged to provide a resilient biasing force which opposes rotation of the arm about the pivot. The arm can be made relatively stiff in comparison with the leaf spring, so that load is transferred directly into the pivot without a large amount of bending of the leg. The leaf spring shock absorber typically has a reduced part count compared with a conventional oleo-pneumatic shock absorber. By forming the leaf spring from a composite material, its weight is significantly reduced in comparison with a conventional metal spring, making it suitable for use on a relatively large aircraft.
