  • Patent number: 4745949
Abstract: A faucet assembly comprising a movable handle, an axially adjustable mixing valve operated by the handle, and a timer assembly. The timer assembly is entirely mechanical and comprises a drive gear, an actuator arm coupling the drive gear to the handle, a timer gear journalled coaxially with the drive gear, fixed check gear coaxial with the drive gear, and a latch. The latch is carried transversely on the drive gear, and terminates at either end in first and second latch arms extending opposite to each other substantially parallel to the drive gear. The first latch arm mechanically latches the drive gear to the timer gear when the handle is depressed toward the open position. The second latch arm latches the drive gear to the fixed check gear when the handle reaches the open position. The timer counterrotates the timer gear at a given rate after the timer gear and the drive gear are unlatched.

  • Patent number: 4716897
Abstract: An electrosurgical apparatus includes a radio frequency (RF) power source for supplying an RF signal to an object to be cauterized through a treatment tool and an electrode plate. A dummy load with a certain impedance is coupled in the current path from an active terminal to which the treatment tool is connected to the check terminal connectable to an electrode plate. Before electrosurgical treatment, the dummy load is connected to the active terminal and the check terminal. An actual RF signal flowing through the dummy load is detected and compared with a predetermined RF signal from the RF power source.

  • Patent number: 4715478
Abstract: The velocity of a cage during a time interval from the start of deceleration to the stoppage of the cage is controlled by utilizing a velocity characteristic which changes depending upon the load condition or oil temperature of a hydraulic elevator, that is, a magnitude by which the velocity characteristic during the acceleration of the cage differs from a reference running characteristic. Thus, even when the load state or the oil temperature has changed, the operating period of time of the hydraulic elevator is shortened, so that a comfortable ride, energy saving, cost reduction etc. are attained.

  • Patent number: 4672772
Abstract: A balanced door operating mechanism comprising a floor sheave, a door sheave, an arm extending between the wheels, and a cable rotatably coupling the wheels. The floor sheave is fastened substantially adjacent a side jamb of the door frame between the threshold and the door, and is oriented with the axis of rotation thereof parallel to the axis of rotation of the door. The door sheave is fastened to the door coplanar with the floor sheave so that the axis of rotation of the door sheave is inset medially from and oriented parallel to the axis of the floor sheave. The substantially rigid arm is pivotably mounted at a proximal end on the floor sheave, and at a distal end on the door sheave, and carries at least part of the weight of the door. The cable frictionally engages peripheral grooves in the floor sheave and the door sheave, and extends between peripheral points of the sheaves which are closer to one face of the door than to the other. A coil type spring biases the door toward a normally closed position.

  • Patent number: 4638718
Abstract: A fluid-pressure driving device including a main actuator unit having a piston adapted to travel a full part of a predetermined stroke and an accelerating actuator unit having a piston adapted to travel only a part of the stroke and being capable of operating only during the acceleration of the object to be actuated. These actuator units are operated under the control of a control valve such that, in the accelerating range in which the speed of the object is still low, both actuator units operate to produce a large actuating force, while, after the acceleration, only the main actuator unit operates to fully travel the required stroke.

  • Patent number: 4534452
Abstract: Disclosed is a hydraulic elevator in which the load and/or the oil temperature are detected under the running condition of a cage of the hydraulic elevator and a proper value of the deceleration delay time corresponding to this running condition is obtained to thereby control the flow of pressure-oil on the basis of the proper value of the deceleration delay time. Various values of the deceleration delay time are stored in advance in the form of table with respect to various values of load and oil temperature.

  • Patent number: 4428559
Abstract: A direct drive type servo motor in which a spool is driven directly by a force motor, the force of the force motor being balanced by the reactional force generated by a resilient member to stabilize the position of the spool to control the flow of working fluid. The resilient member is constituted by a metallic cylindrical member having holes formed in the outer peripheral surface thereof. The holes are arranged such that, when the force is applied to the cylindrical member in the axial direction, the cylindrical member produces an axial reactional force. In consequence, the generation of force component which would act to press the spool against the sleeve is avoided to reduce the friction between the spool and the sleeve to permit a smooth movement of the spool, while allowing the resilient member to have a high spring constant to improve the response characteristic of the servo valve.

  • Patent number: 4289063
Abstract: A hydraulic driving device of a circuit breaker which opens and closes a system in response to two signals is principally constructed of a cylinder, a piston, and a main control valve for controlling the motion of the piston. A spool adapted to slide within the main control valve has its motion controlled by four pressure faces. The first pressure face is normally subjected to a high oil pressure. The second pressure face receives a low oil pressure upon application of the first signal, and a high oil pressure upon release thereof. The third pressure face receives a high oil pressure upon application of the second signal, and a low oil pressure upon release thereof. A high or low oil pressure acts on the fourth pressure face in correspondence with the piston motion. The magnitudes of the forces on the respective pressure faces of the spool are set in a predetermined relationship.

  • Patent number: 4175589
Abstract: A fluid pressure drive device including a primary drive portion operated by receiving an operational command, and a secondary drive portion operated due to the operation of the primary drive portion. In this fluid pressure drive device, at least parts of movable members in the above both drive portions are overlapped so as to shorten the lengths of fluid passages. As a result, a time interval from the receiving of an operational command until the generation of a drive force in the final drive portion, i.e., a response time of the drive device may be shortened.
