Publication number: 20070283370Abstract: A flexible printed-wiring circuit board that connects a signal-processing circuit board and a pickup is prevented from coming into contact with the bottom (or the like) of a tray and thus becoming damaged. The flexible printed-wiring circuit board (FPC board) is disposed in a U-shaped folded state in a space sandwiched between a surface along which the tray moves, and a surface on which the signal-processing circuit board is mounted. An extension portion that restricts deformation of the FPC board toward the tray is provided at a connecting end of the pickup. Length D of the extension portion is set such that length S of the FPC board from a front end of the extension portion to a fold-back position of the FPC board is equal to or less than a required value.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2006Publication date: December 6, 2007Inventors: Masahiro Matsuo, Yoichi Narui, Ikuo Nishida

Publication number: 20070277185Abstract: Increases in the data transfer rates of optical disc drives have resulted in problems such as increases in optical disc vibrations due to higher rotation speeds or increases in heat generation due to increases in the output of motors for rotating the optical discs and in the output of laser diodes. To solve such problems, an optical pickup is provided with an air duct therein, and a space that is formed between the optical disc and a top case of a casing and that has negative pressure during rotation of the optical disc is connected to the air duct in the optical pickup via a tube, at least part of the tube being deformable. The optical pickup is cooled by the air flow through the air duct induced by pressure difference.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2007Publication date: November 29, 2007Inventors: Nobuyuki Isoshima, Takayuki Fujimoto, Yoshiaki Yamauchi, Seiichi Katou, Ikuo Nishida, Youichi Narui

Publication number: 20070041038Abstract: An image development unit of an MFP executes an interpretation process for a rendering command of data that is received by a data receiving unit. If a result of the interpretation process shows that the received data is print data, the image development unit executes a rendering process using a parameter for a printer, which corresponds to characteristics of the MFP, and effects printing on paper in a printer unit. If the result of the interpretation process shows that the received data is PC-FAX data, the image development unit executes a rendering process using a parameter for PC-FAX, which does not depend on the characteristics of the MFP, and further subjects the data, which is obtained by the rendering process, to a conversion process such as a resolution conversion process, thereby converting the data to a facsimile image. The facsimile image is facsimile-transmitted via an interface unit to a public line.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2005Publication date: February 22, 2007Applicants: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba Tec Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ikuo Nishida, Aiko Okajima

Publication number: 20060285158Abstract: An image forming apparatus according to the present invention allows a portable type external storage medium that can store image data to be attached to or detached from the apparatus main body. The image forming apparatus has a data protection means. In a normal operation, the data protection means allows image data stored in an internal storage device (HDD, etc.) or image data stored in the external storage medium to be processed in the image processor and outputs the processed image data to a printer section for printing. In the case where confidential image data is processed, the data protection means inhibits the image data from being saved in the internal storage device and allows only the image data from the external storage medium to be processed in the image processor after attachment of the external storage medium to the apparatus main body has been detected.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2005Publication date: December 21, 2006Applicants: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Toshiba Tec Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ikuo Nishida, Mitsuhiro Kinoshita
