  • Patent number: 5982719
Abstract: The speed of a disc handling operation by a disc apparatus having disc changer capability is significantly increased and, at the same time, the disc handling operation is performed with stability. In the disc apparatus according to this invention, a plurality of reproducing units loaded with discs are moved independently and disc reproduction is started by returning the reproducing units to their dedicated positions. Simultaneous returning of the plurality of reproducing units is prevented and each reproducing unit moves for refuge while reproducing the disc. This novel setup significantly shortens the time for moving the reproducing units for disc reproduction. When continuously reproducing a plurality of discs accommodated in proximity, the plurality of reproducing units are moved in a stacked state rather than independently. This also contributes to a significant reduction of the time in the disc handling operation.

  • Patent number: 5862119
Abstract: In an auto-exchanger disc apparatus, both a disc cartridge for stocking plural discs and a pickup cartridge having a pickup are provided with common recesses, and a cartridge stocking unit is formed with a projection which is engaged with the recesses, whereby the cartridges can be exchanged for each other and mounted on the disc apparatus. Therefore, the extension and maintenance of the cartridges can be facilitated. When a double-side reproducing operation is performed, the pickup cartridge is turned upside down and then mounted on the disc apparatus, whereby the double-side reproduction can be surely performed by the disc inverting mechanism. Further, disc inclining means is provided to prevent a disc being returned from the disc feeder to the disc cartridge from abutting against the disc cartridge. The disc inclining mechanism and the disc inverting means may be integrally constructed by the same member to reduce the cost.

  • Patent number: 5489970
Abstract: According to a paper conveying apparatus and a copying machine of the present invention, when a paper is supplied from a back cassette provided at a position where at least one cassette is provided between a photoconductive drum and the cassette, and a first paper supplied to the photoconductive drum is conveyed to an aligning roller of the copying machine, a second paper sequentially after the first paper arrived at the aligning roller is drawn from the back cassette in advance. Due to this, paper conveying time necessary for conveying the paper is reduced when a continuous copying is performed. If a back edge of the first paper is left on an intermediate aligning roller, that is, the whole length of paper drawn from the back cassette is longer, the second paper is stopped at the position where the second paper is drawn from the back cassette. Therefore, the first paper and second paper can be prevented from being collided with each other, and being overlapped on each other.

  • Patent number: 5315460
Abstract: A tape running guide and tape loading mechanism for a magnetic tape recording and reproducing apparatus including a tape guiding system having, at a tape supply side, at least a first movable slanted pin and a first movable tape height regulating guide roller for deriving a tape from an open space of a magnetic tape cassette and winding the tape on a cylindrical drum, a second slanted pin and a second tape height regulating guide roller and third movable guide pin for winding the tape on the second slanted pin. At a tape returning side, a fourth movable slanted pin and a fourth movable tape height regulating guide roller for deriving the magnetic tape from the open space of the tape cassette and winding the magnetic tape on the cylindrical drum a fifth movable slanted pin and a pinch roller which are to be derived from the open space of the tape cassette and a capstan in arranged outside the open space.

  • Patent number: 5278707
Abstract: A plurality of tape guides are moved to wind a magnetic tape on a rotatable cylinder when the magnetic tape is to be loaded. An auxiliary guide mounted on a chassis of a magnetic recording and/or reproducing apparatus in position is made to touch the magnetic tape during a period for which the magnetic tape is being loaded, but it does not touch the magnetic tape when the magnetic tape has been loaded. The auxiliary guide can be protruded toward the magnetic tape from between the tape guides moving to touch the magnetic tape during the period for which the magnetic tape is being loaded so that the magnetic tape can be kept to a predetermined span.

  • Patent number: 5124854
Abstract: A slide type cassette loading apparatus includes a loading section for receiving a tape cassette to move the same between an inlet/outlet position and a reference position for loading, and a movable chassis for sliding the cassette, located in the reference position, to a recording/reproducing position while carrying the cassette on the movable chassis. The loading section is of a double structure type which has an outer cassette holder pivotable relative to the movable chassis and an inner cassette holder supported to the outer cassette holder. The inner cassette holder is mounted on the outer cassette holder so as to make a pivotal movement together with the outer cassette holder and be movable in slide directions of the cassette, and is operatively coupled to the movable chassis so as to be movable together with the movable chassis.

  • Patent number: 5065264
Abstract: A magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus has a chassis, a rotary cylinder mounted on the chassis, and at least one guide base movably disposed around the rotary cylinder. The guide base is provided with a guide member for drawing out a magnetic tape from a tape cassette. The guide member draws out the magnetic tape from the tape cassette, as the guide base is being moved, and winds the magnetic tape around the rotary cylinder so that a predetermined tape passage is defined. The magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus further has a capstan mechanism for driving the magnetic tape to run the same. The capstan mechanism is arranged on the same side of the chassis on which the rotary cylinder is disposed, and has a capstan downwards extending toward the chassis to come into direct contact with the magnetic tape.

  • Patent number: 5014140
Abstract: A magnetic recording and/or reproducing apparatus is disclosed, comprising a rotary head device, in which a magnetic tape is drawn out of a cassette and brought into contact with the rotary head device or the like. A tape draw-out device doubling as a tape guide forms a predetermined tape path and guides the drive of the magnetic tape after drawing out the magnetic tape. The apparatus further requires a fixed magnetic head and other tape guide mechanism which are movably arranged on the path of the tape draw-out device during the apparatus operation for reducing the size thereof. With the tape loading operation, the fixed magnetic head and the other tape guide are moved by a common drive mechanism and held in position by a common stopper.

  • Patent number: 4833562
Abstract: A rotary magnetic head cylinder device for use in a helical-scanning system video tape recorder has a projection provided on a tape running race of a stationary lower cylinder near a location at which a magnetic tape leaves from the lower cylinder. The projection is preferably integral with the tape running race and has a small area which is defined by a shoulder circumferentially extending identically with a tape guide shoulder contouring the lower edge of the tape running race and which spreads perpendicularly to the tape running race, and an upper surface coplanar with the top face of the lower cylinder, and a height defined by a protruded length radially outwardly toward the outer circumferential surface of the lower cylinder. The projection serves to reduce vibrations of the magnetic tape generated when the video head carried by the rotary upper cylinder leaves from the magnetic tape.
