  • Patent number: 3951716
Abstract: An elongated stringer tape is fed along a path extending substantially tangentially of a die wheel carrying in its circumferential groove a formed continuous coupling element of a zigzag or helical coil configuration composed of thermally fusible material. The coupling element is held at an elevated temperature by the die wheel. One of the longitudinal edges of the stringer tape becomes received between the shanks of the coupling element as the latter is gradually released from within the die wheel groove, and while the coupling element is partly caught in the groove and is therefore still hot, its shanks are fused to the stringer tape under application of heat and pressure.

  • Patent number: 3947931
Abstract: A sliding clasp fastener including interlocking elements of a continued meander structure which are disposed astride a longitudinal tape edge at their leg and connecting portions. The leg and connecting portions are deformed to provide flattened, enlarged undersurfaces adapted to be held in intimate contact with the tape. The connecting portions are also deformed to produce recesses for receiving therein side flanges of a slider.

  • Patent number: 3945405
Abstract: A method of manufacturing slide fastener stringers having a row of continuous coupling elements which is spirally coiled and woven into the fabric tape simultaneously with the weaving of the latter. There is provided a shuttle for carrying an element-forming filament which is interwoven with warp yarns forming the tape edge and looped over a mandrel wire located adjacent the tape edge by reciprocal, transverse movement of the shuttle. The shuttle is rotated about its central axis during one cycle of the reciprocal movement thereof to eliminate a twist or torsion on the filament imparted by the shuttle reciprocally passing alternately over and under the mandrel wire.
