  • Patent number: 11446591
Abstract: A lateral filter, a method of its use, and a system incorporating at least one lateral filter are provided. The lateral filter includes a filter screen that includes a screen wire and screen support rod comprise a non-metallic material and are a unitary, integrated, inseparable, and singular component. In using the lateral filter, a fluid entrained with solids is introduced through an exterior-facing side and permeate forms in the interior of the filter. The solids remaining in the permeate, if any, have a smallest dimension that is less than a width of a slot in the filter screen. The permeate passes from the interior of the lateral filter. Lateral filters may be incorporated into a system comprising many lateral filter, such as sand filter is configured to filter raw seawater.

  • Patent number: 11334861
Abstract: Temporarily provisioning functionality to a personal device in a multi-device point-of-sale (POS) system is described. In an example, a presence of a personal device operated by, or on behalf of, a merchant can be determined to be within a range of a POS system of a merchant. The POS system can include a merchant-facing device and a customer-facing device that is coupled to the merchant-facing device. Functionality can be provisioned to the personal device that (i) configures the personal device to present a merchant user interface (UI) via a display of the personal device to enable the merchant to interact with one or more customers and (ii) enables the personal device to interact with at least one of the merchant-facing device or the customer-facing device. Responsive to determining an occurrence of an event, the functionality can be de-provisioned from the personal device.

  • Publication number: 20210382928
Abstract: Embodiments provide techniques for dynamically linking device data models and asset data models. A first data model link between a first one or more asset data model components of an asset data model and a first one or more device data model components of a device data model is dynamically updated. The device data model is processed to determine normalized data relationship paths utilized by an inference engine to populate a device element data set. Embodiments execute an asset data model query against the asset data model comprising analyzing asset data model component metrics by querying the device element data set, based on the updated first data model link, and generate an asset data model descriptive analytics determination output, based on the execution of the asset data model query.

  • Publication number: 20210255848
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for securely updating a point-of-sale (POS) system that includes a merchant-facing device and a buyer-facing device. For instance, the merchant-facing device may execute first software that provides first POS functionality and the buyer-facing device may execute second software that provides second POS functionality. To update both devices, the merchant-facing device may receive a software update from a payment service via a network connection, and update the first software using the software update. The merchant-facing device can then cause, via a physical connection, the buyer-facing device to reboot in an update mode and send the software update to the buyer-facing device. In response, the buyer-facing device can update the second software using the software update and then reboot in a payments mode. In some instances, the buyer-facing device can then update a secure enclave on the buyer-facing device using the software update.

Abstract: Techniques for conducting transaction(s) between a merchant and customer(s) via a. multi-device point-of-sale system are described. The multi-device POS system can include a merchant-facing device having a first processor for processing first instructions for presenting a merchant user interface (UI) on a display of the merchant-facing device. Further, the multi-device POS system can include a first customer-facing device having a second processor for processing second instructions for presenting a first customer UI. The first customer UI can enable a first customer to perform a first action associated with a first transaction. The first customer-facing device can have been coupled to the merchant-facing device at a first time. Further, the multi-device POS system can include an application, which can be stored on the merchant-facing device, a second customer-facing device, or a personal device, for presenting a second customer UI enabling performance of a second action.

  • Patent number: 10943311
Abstract: Techniques and arrangements for facilitating synchronization of order ticket functionality utilized by point-of-sale (POS) devices with kitchen display systems. In some example, a POS device and a line buster device collectively receive a plurality of customer orders associated with a transaction between a merchant and plurality of customers. Based on individual customer orders, the POS device determines when to fire off the orders to the kitchen display system irrespective of the sequence in which they are received. In some examples, the kitchen display system then synchronizes with a customer device to provide real-time or near-real time updates on the status of the order.

  • Patent number: 10893943
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a bone attachment coating to a prosthetic component, the bone attachment coating being formed from a plurality of particles applied to a surface of the prosthetic component. The method comprising: locally exciting the particles so as to increase the kinetic and/or thermal energy of the particles; and applying pressure to the particles by virtue of a press arranged so as to press the particles against the surface of the prosthetic component at an interface between the press and the prosthetic component. The kinetic and/or thermal energy of the particles causes localised heating of the component such that the particles may be embedded into the surface of the prosthetic component.
