  • Patent number: 8943888
Abstract: This invention is related to a microfabricated microelectromechanical systems (a.k.a. MEMS) silicon thermal mass flow sensor integrated with a micromachined thermopile temperature sensor as a flow inception detection sensor. The micromachined thermopile sensor is used to detect the inception of mass flow and therefore to trigger the operation of mass flow sensor from its hibernating mode. By this method, the battery-operated flow speed measuring apparatus can save great deal of electricity and significantly extend the life span of battery. A new design of micromachined thermopile sensor with serpentine shape is used to reduce the complexity of microfabrication process and to increase the flexibility and options for material selection. • Patent number: 8938909
Abstract: A simple alternative to separate filamentous bodies of Monostroma latissimum algae (large green algae) as seed stock. The filamentous bodies are easily separated and prepared for cultivation. At low luminosity (50 ?m mole s?1m?2), the filamentous bodies grow into the filamentous colony. If the filamentous colony is in turns irradiated at the luminosity greater than 100 ?m mole s?1m?2, it is turning into fronds. Thereby the filamentous bodies are evenly distributed into small segments so as to penetrate through the cotton rope for algal mass cultivation and further grow into fronds at high luminosity.

  • Publication number: 20140377099
Abstract: A micro-gas pressure driving apparatus includes a miniature gas transportation module and a miniature valve module. The miniature gas transportation module includes a gas inlet plate, a fluid channel plate, a resonance membrane and a piezoelectric actuator. A first chamber is defined between the resonance membrane and the piezoelectric actuator. After the piezoelectric actuator is activated to feed a gas through the gas inlet plate, the gas is transferred to the first chamber through the fluid channel plate and the resonance membrane and then transferred downwardly. Consequently, a pressure gradient is generated to continuously push the gas. The miniature valve module includes a gas collecting plate, a valve membrane and a gas outlet plate. After the gas is transferred from the miniature gas transportation module to the gas-collecting chamber, the gas is transferred in one direction, so that a pressure-collecting operation or a pressure-releasing operation is selectively performed.
