    Abstract: An optical modulator includes a modulation region, input, output, and sink ports, and a modulation actuator. The modulation region includes an inhomogeneous arrangement of two or more different materials having different refractive indexes. The input port is optically coupled to the modulation region to inject an optical carrier wave into the modulation region. The output port is optically coupled to the modulation region to receive and emit a modulated signal having a high state and a low state. The sink port is optically coupled to the modulation region. The modulation actuator is disposed proximate to the modulation region and adapted to apply a modulation bias to the modulation region that influences the different refractive indexes of the inhomogeneous arrangement to selectively steer a portion of optical power of the optical carrier wave to the sink port when the modulated signal is modulated into the low state.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for efficient bandwidth adaptation for wideband carrier. In one novel aspect, the UE starts a BWP timer upon detecting one or more BWP timer starting triggering events, resets the BWP timer upon detecting BWP resetting triggering events, and switches to the default BWP upon expiration of the BWP timer. The BWP timer starting triggering events comprises decoding a command to switch away from the default BWP, the detection of end of DL data transmission in DRX mode. In another novel aspect, the UE only decodes the DCI indication for active BWP switching in the first three OFDM symbols of a subframe or a slot. In yet another novel aspect, when the SPS is configured for the serving cell for a UE with multiple BWPs, the SPS is configured for all the BWPs accordingly.

The grooved shielding layer includes an inner barrier and an outer barrier respectively located at two opposite sides of the supporting layer. An inner edge of the inner barrier has an opening directly located above a sensing region of the sensor chip. The inner barrier, the outer barrier, and a part of the lower surface of the light-permeable layer jointly define a ring-shaped groove. The part of the lower surface of the light-permeable layer is disposed on the supporting layer, so that a part of the supporting layer is arranged in the ring-shaped groove.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a calibration system for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM), a WDM system, and a calibrating method for WDM. The calibration system includes heating devices, an optical sensor, and an electrical device. When the optical sensor receives no beam with energy exceeding a threshold value from a first channel, the optical sensor transmits a first signal to the electrical device. In response to the first signal, the electrical device is configured to control the one or more of the heating devices to heat one or more of channels. When the optical sensor receives a beam having energy exceeding the threshold value from the first channel, the optical sensor transmits a second signal to the electrical device. In response to the second signal, the electrical device is configured to control the one or more of the heating devices to maintain the temperature of the one or more of the channels.
