Abstract: A method and an apparatus for device security verification utilizing a virtual trusted computing base are provided. The validity of a key for decryption is verified by a secure memory loader running on a processor of a device after booting of the device which is a computing device, and if the key is valid, encrypted firmware stored in a memory of the device is decrypted using the key to verify the confidentiality of the firmware. Then, the security memory loader verifies the authentication and integrity of the firmware by comparing a signature value generated for the decrypted firmware with an existing signature value.

Abstract: A method is provided for operating a memory device. The method includes counting, from among memory cells, a number of first off-cells with respect to a first reading voltage and a number of second off-cells with respect to a second reading voltage, comparing the number of first off-cells and the number of second off-cells, and determining, based on a result of the comparing, whether a programming error exists in a storage region in which the memory cells are included.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a vehicle emergency notification method and apparatus using interaction with an external terminal. Some of functions of a conventional vehicle emergency notification apparatus are performed by a replaceable or detachable external terminal. The apparatus may provide notification of a vehicle emergency via interaction with the external terminal. The external terminal generates a Minimum Set of Data (MSD) related to an accident involving the vehicle. A proxy Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) receives the MSD from the external terminal. The PSAP finally determines whether an accident involving the vehicle has occurred via interaction with a proxy PSAP FE and interaction with a vehicle occupant, and requests dispatch from an emergency agency if it is finally determined that the accident involving the vehicle has occurred.

Abstract: A method for controlling error check and correction (ECC) of a non-volatile memory device includes storing write data in a plurality of storing regions. The write data may be generated by performing ECC encoding. Individual ECC decoding may be performed based on each of a plurality of read data read out from the storing regions. Logic operation data may be provided by performing a logic operation of the read data when the individual ECC decoding fails with respect to all of the read data. Combined ECC decoding may be performed based on the logic operation data.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are an apparatus and method for detecting a malicious device based on swarm intelligence. The method includes detecting a malicious device by causing at least one exploration ant to access a device swarm along movement routes in which pheromone trail values are taken into consideration, wherein the exploration ant is generated in response to a detection request received from a security management server, when the at least one exploration ant detects a suspicious device that is suspected to be a malicious device, causing the exploration ant to return along the movement routes in reverse order, and returning pheromone trail values generated by devices on the return movement routes to a malicious device detection apparatus, and identifying whether the suspicious device is the malicious device by calculating an optimal solution based on a local information set generated by aggregating the pheromone trail values returned for movement routes.

A social-networking system may receive instructions from a user to create a messaging campaign. The instructions may include a blocking instruction. The system may identify a target user of the social-networking system to whom to present a message associated with the messaging campaign and present the message to the target user. The system may receive from the target user an input associated with the presented message. The input may be configured to cause the message to be presented to one or more other users connected to the target user within a threshold degree of separation in a social graph. In response to the input from the target user, the system may determine that the message is associated with the blocking instruction and prevent the message from being presented to the one or more other users.
