  • Patent number: 4867928
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus and a method for the production of outwardly ribbed, plastic pipes. The apparatus includes a core around which a plasticized material is pressed from a nozzle. A kernel having an essentially constant diameter is positioned at the terminal end of the core for a smooth inner face of the pipe. The outer face of the pipe is ribbed by grooves of axially displaceable chill moulds. The end zone of the kernel is provided for the cooling of the inner face of the pipe. In known apparatuses the grooves of the chill moulds are often filled incompletely and the inner face of the pipe becomes uneven on account of air bubbles, for instance. These disadvantages are avoided by heating an initial zone of the kernel for heating the inner face of the pipe and by shaping the surface of the initial zone to slightly expand conicallly in the production direction.

  • Patent number: 4080471
Abstract: A method for inducing increased inotropic effects of the human heart without inducing arrhythmogenic effects, but providing an antiarrhythmogenic effect therein. The method is effected by administering to mammals, including man, a compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or ##STR2## wherein R' is selected from the group consisting of straight or branched aliphatic alkyl having 1 to 7 carbon atoms, phenyl, benzyl, and phenylethyl, wherein the phenyl nucleus may be further substituted with alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxyalkyl having 2 to 8 carbon atoms or halogen, in any position.

  • Patent number: 3998790
Abstract: Para-substituted phenoxy-hydroxypropylamines having the general formula ##STR1## and pharmaceutically acceptable, non-toxic acid addition salts thereof, wherein R' is an isopropyl or tertiarybutyl radical; Z is a member selected from the group consisting of -OR", -SR", and -NHCOOR", R" being a straight or branched lower alkyl radical having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and n is 1, 2, or 3, are disclosed as are methods for their preparation. Pharmaceutical preparations are prepared whose active ingredients include at least one of the newly discovered phenoxy-hydroxypropylamine compounds. Therapeutically effective doses of these preparations selectively block the .beta.-receptors of the heart making them useful in treating heart diseases in animals including humans.

  • Patent number: 3971486
Abstract: An apparatus for handling, loading, unloading and transporting containers, load supporting bodies, pallets and like bulky and heavy objects with the use of a transport vehicle and a fork lift type lifting device disposed on the transport vehicle. The fork lift device is pivoted to one end of the transport vehicle in such a way that the frame carrying the fork lift device can be pivoted between a vertical position and a position coplanar with the chassis of the transport vehicle. Coupling means associated with the fork lift device is designed so as to permit being coupled with mating coupling means associated with the end of a load supporting body which is usable as a transportation support for containers and like objects. When the load supporting body is coupled with the fork lift device, the body can be pulled onto and lowered from the transport vehicle under simultaneous pivotment of the frame of the fork lift device and shifting of the fork lift device along the frame thereof.
