  • Patent number: 5568846
Abstract: A wheel hub and brake disc arrangement for a vehicle wheel, comprising a hub rotatably carried on a shaft portion and presenting an outwardly facing region of non-circular cross-section, and a brake disc which is carried by this region of the hub. The brake disc having a central hole, the shape of which is adapted to the shape of the non-circular cross-section thereby to provide a mutually non-rotatable attachment of the brake disc to the hub. The non-circular region of the hub comprises closely spaced V-shaped ridges (10) and troughs (11), and the central hole of the brake disc is provided with corresponding V-shaped troughs (13) and ridges (14) which are so adapted in relation to the ridges and troughs on the hub that a slip fit between the hub and disc is achieved. The depth of the troughs is greater than the height of the ridges, so that there is a substantial gap between the bottoms of the troughs and the tops of the ridges.

  • Patent number: 5540303
Abstract: The invention relates to a wheel hub and brake disc arrangement for a vehicle wheel. A disc-shaped carrier to which the wheel rim is attached includes a tubular portion. The tubular portion of the disc-shaped carrier is affixed by a screw connection to a hub portion rotatably carried by bearing means. A neck portion integral with the disc-shaped carrier radially externally of the screw connection presents an external shaping which meshes with an internal shaping on the brake disc. This arrangement eliminates the need for the screw connection to act as a braking moment transmitting element.

  • Patent number: 5507367
Abstract: Wheel hub rotatably carried on a shaft portion, which hub presents a region to which a brake disc is non-rotatably affixed, wherein a circular channel (23) surrounding the shaft portion, open on one side of the hub (6), is provided in the hub (6) radially inside of that region. The wheel hub (6) comprises a substantially cylindrical hub section (32) which merges into a radial flange portion (30) to which a wheel (31) is intended to be securely screwed. The circular channel (23) extends through the entire cylindrical section up to the flange portion. The circular channel (23) is open towards the end of the cylindrical hub section which faces away from the flange portion.

  • Patent number: 5413365
Abstract: Steering knuckle with disk brake for a steerable vehicle wheel. The steering knuckle (3) has a king pin bearing arrangement in the form of a lower thrust and radial bearing (22) and an upper radial bearing (25). The upper extent of the king pin (10) and the radial bearing lies essentially co-planar with the upper side of the knuckle in order to make it possible to place the disk brake yoke (5) above the king pin (10).
