Abstract: A PC is comprised of a processing device 1 which performs processings such as converting manipulated data into a human-comprehensible format or data updating according to entered information, a display device 3 which presents information such as images and sounds to the user, a storage device 4 which stores data temporarily converted into information such as data to be handled, images and sounds, and a connection device 5 which establishes connection with other PCs and PDAs via a connection medium such as the Internet or a USB cable. This configuration allows transfer of application data by a program capable of manipulating such data after its conversion into basic data and allows application data to be manipulated (worked with) even on PDAs lacking means for directly handling application data.

Abstract: A method of composing an electronic mail so that an expression appropriate for a receiver of the electronic mail can be included in the contents of the outgoing electronic mail. The method includes the steps of setting an electronic mail ID of the of receiver in the outgoing electronic mail and inserting a mail expression corresponding to a category attribute of the electronic mail ID of the receiver into the body of the outgoing electronic mail.

Abstract: A display device is provided having a display section for displaying a window frame of a standard pixel number. A data acquiring section is provided for acquiring image data of a given pixel number from any of various applications. An image data storing section is provided for storing therein the image data. A pixel number determining section is also provided for determining the pixel number based on attribution data that is attached to the image data. A pixel number judgment section is provided for judging whether or not the pixel number is smaller than the standard pixel number preliminarily stored in a standard pixel number storing section. A data expanding section is provided for expanding the image data to increase the pixel number of the image data to the standard pixel number, if the pixel number is smaller than the standard pixel number.

Abstract: When a user places his finger on a fingerprint detecting section, in the fingerprint detecting section, a shadow made by the finger placed on the fingerprint detecting section is detected by a sensor portion, and then, when it is judged that a shape of the detected shadow coincides with a distribution of the shadow made by the user's finger, and thereby, a power is turned on. Thereafter, a fingerprint is detected from the finger placed on the fingerprint detecting section, and then, the detected fingerprint is collated with a previously stored fingerprint data so as to identify the user. Further, it is possible to use various data such as schedule data corresponding to the identified user. Therefore, this dispenses an operation for turning on the power and an instruction for starting fingerprint collation.

Abstract: A television recording and reproducing system capable of obtaining information on television programs desired to record from an Internet, writing the information on a memory card loaded in a portable information terminal and realizing recording of the timer reserved programs by only inserting the memory card in a television program recording device. A processing means of the information terminal writes the starting and ending times of each program and the channel in an index area on a memory card inserted in the terminal and, then, requests the user to confirm the correctness of settings. The user removes the memory card from the information terminal and inserts it into a television program recording device which in turn will be automatically powered ON at the start time and records the program.

Abstract: An electronic mail system displays a list of received mails in a receiving mode. The list indicates a mark “O” at the end of the row describing the contents of the mail from a person for whom an already-read mail box has been set. When received mail is mail from a person for whom the already-read mail box has been set, the system displays TO MAIL BOX button further. When the user touches TO MAIL BOX button, the system stores the received mail currently displayed in the already-read mail box which has been set with the keyword of the mailing address.

Abstract: In a data processing device into which drawings can be inputted by, for example, touching a pen to the surface of a touch panel, in a draw mode, during inputting of a drawing, each line of the drawing is inputted and displayed in a different color. Then, in an erase mode, after designating the color of a line to be erased, the line to be erased is traced with the pen. By this means, even if a line to be erased is displayed so as to overlap with a line not to be erased, it is possible to erase only the line to be erased.

Abstract: If an unnecessary sentence is included in data tabulated at a display, a head address is prepared in a memory region for storing a new data group. A counter m indicating a function and a counter n indicating a data number corresponding to the function are initialized. A determination whether or not the data (Y(m)) is necessary is made for every function (X(m, n)), and the only necessary data is stored in the memory. This operation is performed to check four functions and 100 pieces of data for each of the four functions. When the operation is completed, the resultant data is stored as a set of data in the memory.

Abstract: A display of an electric device displays data which are stored in a chart data part, in the form of a chart. When deleting of a column or row of the chart using a coordinates inputting device is instructed, the column or row is deleted, the remaining columns or rows are moved closer to each other, and the chart is accordingly edited and displayed. Simultaneously, at the position at which the column or row is deleted, an identifier is displayed. A user may also optionally select whether or not to display the identifier. In addition, when the coordinates inputting device on the identifier is touched, the deleted column is restored and displayed at the original position. In the case where there are a plurality of deleted columns, one column may be selectively designated from the plurality of columns so that only the designated one column is restored.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus having a main body and a lid body is configured so that the lid body can be switched between a closed state, a stacked state, a double screen state and an inverted state. Each of the main body and the lid body has a display section for displaying information and an input section composed of a transparent tablet and provided on the display section. As a sensor or the like detects the lid body in one of the four states, a control section of the information processing apparatus controls the display section so that a screen on the display section is appropriate to the detected state of the lid body. The control section also controls the lighting section for lighting the display section appropriately to the detected state of the lid body. This realizes appropriate display in accordance with usages of the information processing apparatus and offers an easy-to-operate and easy-to-use information processing apparatus.

Abstract: An electronic apparatus has a display area of comparatively small surface area and is provided with a function selecting key unit for instructing execution of a plural number of data file preparing functions available on the electronic apparatus. A tablet is disposed on the display panel and the preset areas for display panel and tablet are provided as the display area. The tablet is provided with an input surface on which orthogonal coordinates are set in advance and outputs signals indicating the coordinate position instructed by a preset input pen. Image data including a group of coordinate points set on the input surface is prepared. When the input pen indicates pasting instruction, the data file specified by the pasting instruction is read out and displayed.

Abstract: An information processor having a scheduling function according to the present invention includes an input device, a memory for storing elementary item schedules, a RTC for generating time and date information, a CPU for detection for detecting a predetermined period based on the time and the date information generated by the RTC, a display for automatically displaying a list of the elementary item schedules stored in the memory at every predetermined period detected by the CPU for detection, and a selecting device for selecting a desired schedule from the list of the elementary item schedules displayed by the display device.

Abstract: An input/display apparatus for handwritten characters is capable of quickly inputting handwritten characters, freely editing characters inputted, and storing a lot of handwritten characters with a limited storing capacity. On a display panel provided with a display surface, the orthogonal coordinates of which are preset, a touch panel provided. An input surface of the touch panel, the orthogonal coordinates of which are preset, is disposed in such a way that the display surface and the input surface overlap each other. When the input surface is indicated with an input pen, the indicated coordinate point is outputted. At the time of handwriting input, when the input surface in the input/display area for characters is continuously indicated, coordinate points on the display surface corresponding to the plurality of indicated coordinate points are displayed.
