A schedule-managing apparatus includes a control device for holding schedule information, stored in a storing portion as it is, while renewing stored data information according to inputted coordinates, when a user is inputting coordinates in a calendar display region by altering the coordinates successively. It further includes a scroll indication window provided adjacent to a display screen of a display portion. Finally, another control device is included for scrolling a displayed content of the display portion when the coordinate of the scroll indication window is inputted via a coordinate input device.

When the touch position is within the screen of action board, the cursor is moved to the touch position (S24) to judge if there is copy character string or not (S25), and if copy character string is not found, the flow chart is terminated. If copy character string is found, the copy character string is put into the cursor position of the action board (S26). This judgment if there is copy character string or not (S25) includes the judgement if there is copy character string for making character strings other than the copy character string invalid for copying and making only the copy character string valid or not.

When optical communication is selected from a keyboard, an LCD display is provided to select either transmission or reception. When the transmission is selected, several modes are selectable including unconditional communication, wild communication, and destination designated communication. When the destination designated communication is selected, the destination list is displayed by the LCD. When the destination is designated by the "name," the completion of reception is confirmed. Plural destinations can also be designated. When the wild communication is selected, the data is transmitted to unspecified destinations and is confirmed. Thus, destinations of data communication can be easily and flexibly designated.

Abstract: A facsimile apparatus capable of enhancing a communication speed with another facsimile apparatus through a transmission line in a network includes a facsimile modem unit for quantizing image data and coding the image data quantized so that the coded image data is output, and a data terminal unit for supplying a first indication signal and a second indication signal and transmitting the image data in response to the first indication signal so that the coded image data is transmitted in response to the second indication signal. The facsimile modem unit includes a unit for quantizing image data to be inputted, a unit for coding the image data quantized in the quantize unit, and a unit for sending either the data coded in the coding unit or coded data supplied from the data terminal unit to the data transmission line.

Abstract: A programmable electronic calculator operates in a programming mode, wherein a desired optional program is introduced into the programmable electronic calculator, or in a run mode wherein the stored program is executed. The introduced optional program is stored in a read/write memory (RAM). A mode selection switch is provided on a keyboard for selectively placing the programmable electronic calculator in the run mode or the programming mode. When a lock command is introduced through the keyboard, the mode selection switch is disabled so that the programmable electronic calculator will not be placed in the programming mode, thereby protecting the optional program stored in the read/write memory (RAM) from being unintentionally erased.

Abstract: An interface circuit connects a computer and peripheral units. The interface circuit includes a battery power source that drives a signal conversion circuit. A detector circuit detects levels of signals received from the computer, the signals being indicative of a power ON/OFF status of the computer. A control circuit controls the operation of the signal conversion circuit so that the built-in battery source will not be dissipated while the computer is not in operation. The control circuit also inhibits operation of the signal conversion circuit when the detector circuit indicates that condition of the battery source has deteriorated.

The previously written and stored programs in the expandable ROM do not utilize the RAM user program area, and the large volume of programs contained within the expandable ROM can be directly executed. The television receiver serves a display and the tape recorder serves as an external storage, with respect to the calculator.
