  • Publication number: 20190262691
Abstract: It is disclosed a method, and a system (30) capable of localizing ball hit events on a sports court. From on acoustics data acquired (22) of ball hit events by individual distributed sensors or microphones, ball hitting patterns are identified (24) in the data from each individual sensor. Based on the identified ball hitting patterns and geometric constraints of a sports court and the distribution of sensors, ball hit events are detected (26). The localization of the detected ball bit events is determined (28) based on the geometrical constraints of the sports court and the sensor distribution. The system has a number of advantages of which some are that it is cheap to install, it is non-invasive, and that it can easily be extended to provide higher precision of ball hit event localization.

  • Patent number: 9961697
Abstract: An object of the present disclosure is to provide a radio-layer mechanism, which brings the IP and radio protocol layers closer and simplifies the radio protocols for future mobile networks, so that the extreme high transmission speed that these networks will be capable of may be efficiently utilized. • Patent number: 9801085
Abstract: It is presented a method arranged to assist a determination of mobile devices being candidates for handover. The method is performed in a radio traffic detector and comprises: measuring a received signal strength value on a predetermined frequency band; repeating the measuring during a time period; generating a message comprising a timestamp associated with the time period, and a plurality of message elements, wherein each message element is based on a respective received signal strength value for respectively different time instances within the time period; and transmitting the message to a network node to assist the determination of mobile devices being candidates for handover. By using measured received signal strength, uplink traffic can be detected without the need to decode the signals. Corresponding radio traffic device, network node and method are also presented.

  • Publication number: 20160277314
Abstract: A technique of providing content via a mobile communications network to a user terminal is described. A method aspect of this technique comprises assigning, in a connection setup phase initiated by the user terminal, a content access limitation to the user terminal. The content access limitation restricts content access by the user terminal to content predefined on a network side. The method further comprises providing the predefined content to the user terminal. The method may be performed in connection with providing location-dependent information, such as map information, to the user terminal even when the user terminal cannot be authenticated in the mobile communications network.

  • Patent number: 9204389
Abstract: A method performed by a radio communication device for discontinuous reception, DRX, of data from a radio network node is disclosed. When information, indicating that data is scheduled to the radio communication device in a DRX cycle, is received (102, 104(Y)) during an initial part of a DRX cycle, a receiver of the radio communication device is activated (110) at the time data is received and deactivated (110) when data is not received. When information is not received (104(N)) or when the information indicates that no data is scheduled (108(N)) during a remaining part of the DRX cycle, the receiver is kept (106) deactivated. A method performed by the radio network node for enabling DRX of data by the radio communication device is disclosed, as well as the radio communication device and the radio network node. Micro sleep during single time slices, such as time slots, is enabled.

  • Publication number: 20150326867
Abstract: A technique for controlling transmission of layer-encoded media frames via a radio interface to a user terminal is presented. The layer-encoding defines a decoding-dependency of the media frames in terms of, for example, a base layer and one or more enhancement layers. A method implementation of the technique comprises receiving layer-encoded media frames at a radio access network and determining, at the radio access network, the decoding-dependency and a media frame play-out sequence of the received media frames. The method further comprises identifying, from the media frame play-out sequence, a media frame for transmission via the radio interface and determining that the identified media frame is unavailable. In such a case, at least one media frame dependent from the unavailable media frame is identified from the media frame decoding-dependency, and the at least one dependent media frame is excluded from transmission via the radio interface.

  • Patent number: 9030940
Abstract: An entity in a telecommunications network determines a threshold value relating to a channel switching parameter that is being used by the telecommunications network to trigger a channel switching operation, and uses this threshold value and monitored traffic information to prevent a channel change from occurring, i.e. to maintain channel occupancy. A network node is adapted to remove additional traffic that has been generated by an entity in the telecommunications network to maintain channel occupancy.

  • Publication number: 20140099949
Abstract: A method in a base station for handling an identification of an available coverage in a cellular network is provided. The base station serves a first cell in the cellular network. The base station identifies a coverage of a second cell in the cellular network. When the second cell is in the active mode it overlaps a portion of the first cell. When the second cell is in the sleep mode, the base station transmits via the first cell a message to a user equipment located in the portion. The message comprises an indication of the coverage of the second cell, thereby enabling the user equipment to identify the coverage of the second cell as an available coverage for handling of an upcoming data transmission.

  • Patent number: 8619569
Abstract: A method is disclosed for use in a packet switched network, comprising carrying descriptor information relating to options for stream adaptation, for example media stream adaptation, in the packet switched network using at least one of the Next Step in Signalling, NSIS, and Resource Reservation Protocol, RSVP, signalling protocols. Carrying the descriptor information may comprise receiving (S120), processing (S130), generating (S110), distributing (S140), transmitting (S140) or using the descriptor information in any way. The method aims to provide a generally applicable solution for cross-layer information forwarding, with one realization of the general solution using the Layer Independent Descriptor as the forwarded information. Specific NSIS and RSVP object formats are also proposed.

  • Patent number: 8331995
Abstract: A mobile communications network may include a primary and secondary radio-nodes, and the secondary radio-node may include a radio-node transmitter and a radio-node receiver. A method of operating the secondary radio-node may include monitoring through the radio-node receiver of the secondary radio-node to detect user terminal signals transmitted to the primary radio-node while maintaining the secondary radio-node in a sleep mode. • Patent number: 8125903
Abstract: A method and arrangement in a wireless communication network for optimizing data rates when communicating layered multicast data. In an initial probing phase, the receiving capability of each user equipment (UE) in each cell is collected. The optimal data rate for each layer is then calculated and packets are transmitted to the UEs at the optimal rates. The UEs may periodically send updated receiving capabilities so that the optimal data rates can be updated. Additionally, the network may periodically obtain the updated receiving capabilities through secondary probing at unused data rates.
