  • Patent number: 6255241
Abstract: A fullerene-dispersed ceramic is produced by an improved method in which C60 or like fullerene, and C16TMA or like surfactant, are dissolved in a solution of metallic compound, such as zirconyl nitrate, to form a colloidal solution. A gel is formed from the colloidal solution by changing its hydrogen ion concentration. The gel is dried and subjected to heat treatment, to eliminate remaining solvent and surfactant, and thereby stably obtain the desired fullerene-dispersed ceramic powder in which the fullerene is uniformly dispersed and which is essentially free from carbon other than fullerene.

  • Patent number: 6256578
Abstract: A basic navigation operating part implements basic navigating function, such as current position and route computation. Meanwhile, an extended program for extended navigating operation, typically used to present multimedia information, is described in a general-purpose language such as Java. A virtual machine interprets and executes this extended program. If a navigation control code related to the basic navigating function is generated during the execution of the extended program, the service module 64 translates it into a format interpretable by the basic navigation operating part. Thus, several Java-compatible multimedia facilities can be linked with the basic navigating function. Navigation system platforms can execute a chain of basic and extended navigating operations without being provided with a platform-specific program for extended navigating operation.

  • Patent number: 6255380
Abstract: A resin composition which exhibits good sealability while keeping creep deformation to a minimum when brought into sliding contact with a mating member at a high contact pressure of over 10 MPa, and which will not damage a mating member made from an aluminum alloy while sliding in contact with lubricating oil. The resin composition is a pressure-resistant, sliding tetrafluoroethylene resin composition containing 100 parts by volume of a modified tetrafluoroethylene resin in the form of a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and partially modified tetrafluoroethylene, 5-40 parts by volume of carbon fiber, and 2-30 parts by volume of calcium sulfate whiskers having a Mohs hardness of 4 or less, and having, at 100° C., a maximum deformation rate in 24 hours, of 15% or less. A seal device to be brought into slide contact with an aluminum metal is molded from such a pressure-resistant, sliding tetrafluoroethylene resin composition.

  • Publication number: 20010005809
Abstract: A navigation system in which a mobile terminal side 101 is not equipped with a CD-ROM for storing map database 105, but implements an on-demand navigation function by sharing the one provided within a server 102. By limiting the communications between the mobile terminal 101 and the server 102 only to the beginning of the route guidance and the moment at which the mobile terminal has deviated from the route, the communication traffic can be reduced, minimizing thereby the communication cost and the total power consumption as a whole, and further even when the mobile terminal 101 has deviated from the guide route, the system can readily provide the user with information by which he can reach his destination through communications with the server, and enabling also an indication of the name of the road to be taken at every crossings.

  • Patent number: 6250914
Abstract: The present invention provides a wafer heating device which can improve uniformity of a temperature distribution within a surface area of a wafer, with a relatively simple structure. A wafer is supported on a susceptor of annular shape. A first heater of disc shape is disposed below the wafer, and a second heater of annular shape is disposed to surround the first heater. Radiation thermometers are arranged at a ceiling portion of a reaction chamber. The first radiation thermometer measures a temperature of a central area of the wafer, the second radiation thermometer measures a temperature of a peripheral area of the wafer, and the third radiation thermometer measures a temperature of the susceptor. The first heater and the second heater are controlled by independent closed loops. When a wafer is set on the susceptor, a power of the second heater is controlled by using a value measured by the second radiation thermometer as a feedback signal.
