  • Publication number: 20170070493
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention may include a method, computer program product and computer system for password management. The embodiment may include a computing device that creates a password inventory. The password inventory may be a list of one or more passwords, where each of the one or more passwords corresponds to a password key. The embodiment may update the password inventory without input from a user. The embodiment may receive a first login request from a first device. The embodiment may transmit information detailing a first password key to the first device, where the first password key corresponds to a first password from the list of one or more passwords. The embodiment may receive information detailing a first entered password from the first device. • Patent number: 9582383
Abstract: For efficient handing of semi-asynchronous RAID write failures using a processor device in a computing environment, a write operation is committed on a primary copy of data on a primary entity while sending the data to a secondary entity while awaiting an acknowledgment by the secondary entity. The acknowledgment indicates to the primary entity that metadata for the write operation has arrived at the secondary entity without necessarily indicating the data has arrived at the secondary entity.

  • Publication number: 20170054455
Abstract: A coding scheme for coding “code constructs” (for example, alphanumeric characters) into “bit sequences,” where at least one of the code constructs is assigned at least two different bit sequences (that is, a first bit sequence and a second bit sequence). This is sometimes referred to herein as “alternative codings for a single code construct.” In some embodiments, at least one of the alternative codings includes bits that can be used for error detection and/or correction. In some embodiments, the code scheme will be similar to a pre-existing code scheme that does not have alternative codings for a single code construct so that the alternative-codings coding scheme is back compatible with data encoded under the pre-existing coding scheme.

  • Patent number: 9569135
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method for storing small volumes of data within a grid-scale storage system. The method includes creating a container within a storage disk. The method includes distributing data evenly between storage disks. A partition is created within the container. Data is received and stored in the partition, wherein the partition is at least as large as the data. • Patent number: 9563524
Abstract: Methods, computing systems and computer program products implement embodiments of the present invention that include arranging multiple storage devices as a RAID array and receiving, from a given storage device storing a dataset, a number of error messages exceeding a threshold. A mirrored subset of the dataset is retrieved from the given device, and a calculated subset of the dataset is retrieved from remaining devices in the RAID array. In a first embodiment, the mirrored subset is created first, and the calculated subset includes a relative complement of the mirrored subset with respect to the dataset. In a second embodiment, the calculated subset is created first, and the mirrored subset includes a relative complement of the calculated subset with respect to the dataset. The mirrored and the calculated datasets are stored to an additional storage device, and the given device is replaced with the additional device in the RAID array.

  • Patent number: 9563879
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for providing accurate recipients lists. Keywords (e.g., processor, monitor) in a document (e.g., electronic mail message) are identified. These keywords are tagged, where tagging refers to an index term assigned to a piece of information, such as these keywords. A list of recipients may be provided to be correlated with these tagged keywords. The list of recipients is associated with these tagged keywords thereby providing a predefined recipient list to be used when a subsequent document with these tagged keywords is identified. Furthermore, the user is provided an option to modify this recipient list when a subsequent document containing the tagged keywords associated with the recipient list is identified thereby ensuring an accurate recipient list is used.

  • Patent number: 9560075
Abstract: An electronic communication evaluating device determines a suspicion level for an initial electronic communication. The initial electronic communication is addressed to an addressed entity that is associated with an electronic communication receiver. In response to the suspicion level exceeding a predetermined level, a communication switching device reroutes the initial electronic communication from the addressed entity to a cognitive honeypot. The cognitive honeypot transmits, to the electronic communication transmitting system, emulation electronic communications that emulate the addressed entity until a predefined state of the communication session occurs.

  • Patent number: 9558197
Abstract: A cooperative data file coloring backup system includes a file color agent (FCA) and a file color storage cloud controller (FCSCC). The FCA assigns a color to a data file. The assigned color is associated with a highest projected data reduction factor achieved when backing up the data file from a host to one of various storage devices comprised within a data backup storage area network. The FCSCC maintains a list of file types and associated data reduction factors that are achieved during a backup of the file types and provides to the FCA a storage path from the host to a particular storage device within the storage area network associated with the highest data reduction factor and file type. The FCA may implement the storage path based upon the assigned color for each backup request received by the host.

  • Patent number: 9558344
Abstract: An approach for authentication is provided. The approach performs identifying, by one or more computer processors, an account attempting to access striped data. The approach performs identifying, by one or more computer processors, one or more computing devices that are associated with the account. The approach performs determining, by one or more computer processors, a distance from a first computing device of the identified one or more computing devices to a second computing device of the identified one or more computing devices. The approach performs determining, by one or more computer processors, whether the distance from the first computing device to the second computing device is within a threshold proximity. The approach further grants or denies access to striped data based on threshold proximity being met or exceeded.

  • Patent number: 9542411
Abstract: For adding cooperative file coloring in a similarity based deduplication system using a processor device in a computing environment. Input streams of backup application are parsed and the data segments are marked with file coloring that represents a source file of the backup application for comparing the data segments to determine if the data segments are identical during a similarity check operation.

  • Patent number: 9535886
Abstract: In a method for dynamically highlighting repetitive text in electronic documents, obtaining one or more user preferences related to a user reading an electronic document. The method further includes determining whether the electronic document contains one or more repetitive text associations, wherein a repetitive text association is data that provides one or more indications of repetitive text segments interspersed within a document. In response to determining that the electronic document contains one or more repetitive text associations, the method further includes identifying one or more repetitive text segments in the electronic document corresponding to the one or more repetitive text associations and determining a time duration expended by the user reading an instance of the identified one or more repetitive text segments within the electronic document.

  • Publication number: 20160379127
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method for enhanced e-mail return receipts based on cognitive considerations. An input device receives an expected response time from a sender of an electronic message, wherein the expected response time includes the amount of time that the sender expects to receive a response to the electronic message. A processor generates a likelihood that the recipient of the electronic message will respond to the electronic message within the expected response time based on a profile of the recipient. The profile of the recipient includes the recipient's degree of attentiveness to the electronic message, the recipient's workload, the recipient's efficiency, and the recipient's work habits. A communications device presents the likelihood that the recipient will respond to the electronic message within the expected response time to the sender.

  • Publication number: 20160371021
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for multi-tenancy data security. A storage device receives a request for storage from a client device. Responsive to the request for storage being from an existing tenant, the storage device determines whether there is allocated unused storage in a freed space storage pool associated with the existing tenant. Responsive to the allocated unused storage existing in the freed space storage pool, the storage device re-allocates all or a portion of the allocated unused storage existing in the freed space storage pool to an active storage pool associated with the existing tenant in order to satisfy the request such that the client device accesses the allocated unused storage in the active storage pool.
