  • Publication number: 20170170759
Abstract: A method for controlling a U-shape single phase synchronous permanent magnetic motor having a rotor and a stator and coupled to a single phase alternating current (AC) power source through a switch includes estimating back-electromotive force and the position of the rotor based on a voltage feedback signal, a current feedback signal, and a phase feedback signal indicative of a zero-crossing of the single phase AC power source. Once the speed and position of the rotor are determined, a controller can trigger a switch to supply power to the motor.

  • Publication number: 20170056622
Abstract: A catheter assembly includes a protective tip defining an interior chamber between its proximal and distal ends. A protective lubricious sleeve is positioned within the interior chamber. A catheter of the assembly is configured to be advanced proximally into and through the interior chamber to position at least a portion of the catheter within the protective sleeve, with the protective sleeve being retained upon the catheter as at least a proximal portion of the catheter exits the proximal end of the protective tip and is advanced through a body lumen. • Publication number: 20160213880
Abstract: A catheter assembly includes a catheter at least partially positioned within a sleeve. The catheter has a coating, which produces a low-friction surface on the catheter when treated with an activating fluid. A protective tip is connected to the sleeve and has proximal and distal internal seals, with the proximal seal at the proximal end of the tip or between proximal and distal ends of the protective tip. A cap of the assembly has a projection, which is removably received within the protective tip for sealing engagement with the proximal and distal seals to define a fluid reservoir within the protective tip. An activating fluid is contained within the fluid reservoir. The projection may be partially hollow to receive a portion of the catheter. The sleeve may be relatively narrow or at least have a narrowed portion for better distribution of activating fluid to the surface of the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20160116638
Abstract: Techniques for modelling a production forecast for a well are described. In one embodiment, a method includes calibrating a geological reservoir model by analyzing pressure transient well tests, fitting the geological reservoir model to pressure data to estimate model parameters, and building a simulated history of bottom hole pressure based on the model and measured transient flow data. The calibrating may further include fitting the model to flow rate data, using measured and simulated pressure data as input, to estimate model parameters, and then building a simulated history of downhole flow rate based on the model and change in measured pressure data. The calibrated model can be used to forecast future well production. Additional methods, systems, and devices are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150313616
Abstract: A method, and devices for facilitating the method, for shoulder replacement surgery. The method entails establishing a mechanical support in a the anatomical neck plane of the proximal humeral head, fixing a jig to the mechanical support, where the jig supports a drill guide with its axis perpendicular to the anatomical neck plane, adjusting the drill guide it coincide with the axis of the humeral head, drilling a hole through the humeral head for insertion of a shaft which will support and rotate a reaming bit. The reaming bits used to resurface the humeral head and the glenoid fossa are inserted through the back of the patient, through a gap created between two easily separated muscles, rather than through a gap cut through the subscapularis muscle on the front of the joint. A suitable jig is provided to facilitate the method.
