  • Publication number: 20070266241
Abstract: A system for preventing successful denial of service attacks comprises a first communication device, a second communication device, and a network. The first and second communication devices establish a communication session via the network. Based on various information, such as a pre-shared secret, one of the communication devices determines a network access filter value and compares this value to at least one data frame in order to authenticate such data frame without committing significant computing resource and any memory space. By updating the network access filter over time, an unauthorized user who discovers the outdated network access filter values is prevented from successfully launching a denial of service attack.

  • Publication number: 20060270015
Abstract: The invention relates to thrombin compositions with reduced levels of high molecular weight impurities. In particular, the levels of factor Va, prions and/or viral agents are greatly reduced. Ts invention also relates generally to methods for the preparation of thrombin having a high degree of purity and high specific activity. More specifically, the invention encompasses steps to exclude high molecular weight impurities from thrombin preparations by size exclusion filtration. In additional embodiments, the preparation of thrombin additionally includes an ion exchange filtration step. The methods of the invention are particularly suited for large scale purification of thrombin. This invention also relates generally to stabilized formulations containing thrombin cormpositions. More specifically, the present invention relates to stabilized, liquid formulations containing thrombin having a high degree of purity and high specific activity and methods of making and using such formulations.

  • Publication number: 20050144352
Abstract: A system for buffering data received from a network comprises a network socket, a plurality of buffers, a buffer pointer pool, receive logic, and packet delivery logic. The buffer pointer pool has a plurality of entries respectively pointing to the buffers. The receive logic is configured to pull an entry from the pool and to perform a bulk read of the network socket. The entry points to one of the buffers, and the receive logic is further configured to store data from the bulk read to the one buffer based on the entry. The packet delivery logic is configured to read, based on the entry, the one buffer and to locate a missing packet sequence in response to a determination, by the packet delivery logic, that the one buffer is storing an incomplete packet sequence. The packet delivery logic is further configured to form a complete packet sequence based on the incomplete packet sequence and the missing packet sequence.

  • Publication number: 20030177684
Abstract: A three-dimensional, lightweight and thin frame made from a single sheet of formable material such as printed and embossed paper and a flexible transparent cover. The cover is countersunk into and held flat against a mat region in the center of the front of the frame, leaving the surrounding frame region free for whatever two- and three-dimensional ornament is desired. An article holding recess is further countersunk into the center of the mat region such that when an item is placed therein the cover may still lie perfectly flat and away from the item. The article holding recess may be accessed by pulling the cover up from one side of the mat region, where it is held with restickable adhesive, while the other side remains firmly in place, held with permanent adhesive. An article for display, such as a photo, may then be fixed against the back of the article holding recess, which is also covered with restickable adhesive, and the cover then smoothed back down flat.

  • Patent number: 6618924
Abstract: A method for controlling an axle shaft endplay in a vehicle is disclosed. The desired axle shaft endplay is determined by a manufacturer based on the specific operating conditions of a differential assembly. In accordance with the endplay controlling method of the present invention, first the differential is partially assembled by mounting side gears and a set of differential pinion mate gears in a differential case. Then, the manufacturer determines a thickness of a shim ring disposed between an axle shaft retainer ring and the differential side gear, which would provide the desired endplay. The appropriate shim ring is selected from an endplay controlling kit comprising a plurality of the shim rings of assorted thickness. Next, axle shafts are inserted into the differential case through the side gears, and the selected shim ring is mounted to the axle shaft. Finally, the retainer ring is secured to the axle shaft.

  • Patent number: 6460727
Abstract: An improved pop-up system for dispensing sheet products from continuous perforated web material. A perforated web (12) is drawn through a slit-like dispensing opening (14) which, though close-fitting, does not constrict the web (12). Catch flaps (18) capable of swinging out of plane with the web are formed in the web by two symmetrical cuts (20) in the same line extending perpendicularly inward from the longitudinal edges of the web; the cuts each extend through one-third of the web (12) and are bridged by a perforated region (16). When the pop-up presentment (24) is pulled, the catch flaps are drawn to the opening (14) where they catch, bend backward, and jam, becoming caught flaps (22). This causes enough tension in the perforated region (34) drawn outside the opening (14) to break the dispensed individual sheet (10) free, leaving another pop-up presentment (24). A number of different, more developed dispensers for rolls and folded stacks using this system are further detailed in additional embodiments.

  • Patent number: 6431405
Abstract: A system combining a fluid dispenser (10) and a pop-up sheet dispenser (12). The fluid dispenser is a bottle (14) with a spray pump (18), while the sheet dispenser (12) is a tub (28) with an opening (30) through which sheets pop out. The two dispensers snap together to trap and store sheets from a longitudinally folded web ready for pop-out dispensing. The primary embodiment may be used for spray cleaner and paper towels, for example. The sheet dispenser (12) provides the system's base, dispensing from a roll (29) with its core (44) held vertically in the tub (28), located by the tub's core-locating hub (40). The fluid dispenser (10) snaps vertically down into the sheet dispenser (12), acting as its lid and further locating the roll (29) with its hub-stem (26). The roll (29), held loosely by the two hubs, may spin within the system. The tub (28), opening (30), and roll (29) may together rotate relative to the fluid dispenser (14) to reorient the opening (30).
