  • Patent number: 8949487
Abstract: Data transmission from a data storage device (DSD) to a host. Data is received from a volatile memory of the DSD in an ingress buffer of the DSD and the data from the ingress buffer is formatted into formatted data. A size of data buffered in the ingress buffer is compared to a frame ingress size for data to be buffered in the ingress buffer for a frame to be transmitted to the host. It is determined based on the comparison whether to buffer all of the formatted data for the frame in an egress buffer of the DSD before transmission to the host, or to transmit at least a portion of the formatted data for the frame to the host before all of the formatted data for the frame is received in the egress buffer.

  • Publication number: 20150019089
Abstract: A data monitoring system for a final drive is disclosed. The final drive includes a first planetary gear assembly and a cover plate. The data monitoring system includes a first probe, a second probe, a data acquisition system, a wireless router, and an engagement member. The first probe and the second probe generate a first and second electric signal that corresponds to a radial and axial movement of the first planetary carrier, respectively. The data monitoring system is mounted on the cover plate, receives the first and second electric signal, and calculates positional data of the first planetary carrier. The wireless router is mounted on the cover plate, receives the positional data from the data acquisition system, and transmits it to a remote device. The engagement member is configured to transfer electrical power from a power source to the data monitoring system.

  • Patent number: 8883865
Abstract: A process for making cerium-containing oxide nanoparticles includes providing an aqueous reaction mixture containing a source of cerous ion, optionally a source of one or more metal ions (M) other than cerium, a source of hydroxide ion, at least one monoether carboxylic acid nanoparticle stabilizer wherein the molar ratio of said monoether carboxylic acid nanoparticle stabilizers to total metal ions is greater than 0.2, and an oxidant at an initial temperature in the range of about 20° C. to about 95° C. Temperature conditions are provided effective to enable oxidation of cerous ion to ceric ion, thereby forming a product dispersion of cerium-containing oxide nanoparticles, optionally containing one or more metal ions (M), Ce1-xMxO2-?, wherein “x” has a value from about 0.0 to about 0.95. The nanoparticles may have a mean hydrodynamic diameter from about 1 nm to about 50 nm, and a geometric diameter of less than about 45 nm.

  • Publication number: 20140318324
Abstract: An apparatus and system comprises a pole having a top end and a bottom end. The top end is used adjacent a ceiling. The bottom end is used by an installer who is standing on the ground below the ceiling. The present invention is intended to be “modular,” the top and bottom ends being like-configured such that either end can be used as the top end or as the bottom end. Exemplary accessories are shown and described, each of which is disposed in a top end position. There are two types of accessory items contemplated by this invention. First, are fastening tools which are, for the most part, common utilitarian tools used with some sort of specific adapter and/or coupler. Second, there are proprietary accessories, which include offset couplings which can be used to drill and then impact or screw/torque a fastener into an aperture following drilling.

  • Patent number: 8797914
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer storage media are described herein that configure a switch extension associated with a virtual switch with one or more settings. In response to the configuring, the systems, methods, and computer storage media persist the one or more settings and apply the persisted one or more settings to a target switch extension of a target virtual switch. The systems, methods, and computer storage media receive the settings through a management interface. Also, the systems, methods, and computer storage media receive requests for information associated with the switch extension and provide the switch extension information in response.

  • Patent number: 8775667
Abstract: A message routing system that allows applications at either end of the system to run as-is without modification. The system functions in a multithreaded environment and is capable of handling complex routing rules and message transformation. It is also capable of learning and executing new routing rules and message transformations in formats previously unrecognized by the system. The system enables precise and reliable logging of messages throughout processing and supports publication of enterprise-wide broadcast messages. The system further preferably employs cooperating inbound and outbound transport processes for consuming, routing, processing, safely storing and publishing messages in batches of logical units of work to ensure that the logical units of work are not lost in system transactions. The system also preferably utilizes a replay server for preserving and replaying messages that might otherwise fail to reach their intended destinations.

  • Publication number: 20140188902
Abstract: A method and system for ranking an object that contains one or more keywords is disclosed. All linking objects are retrieved that contain a keyword of interest. Each linking object links to the object to be ranked. The locations of each link in each linking object are determined relative to the keywords in the linking objects. A drop off rate is computed for the keyword in each of the linking objects. A perceived importance of the keyword in the each of the linking objects is computed. A partial link rating for each of the linking objects is computed. A total link rating is computed for the at least one keyword across all linking objects. The link ratings each keyword is stored in the object to be ranked.

  • Publication number: 20140167775
Abstract: System and methods for measuring operating parameters of a fuel cell system are presented. In certain embodiments, the systems and methods may be configured to measure a high frequency resistance of a fuel cell system. A method for measuring a high frequency resistance of a fuel cell system may include inducing a current signal and a voltage signal through the FC system at a center frequency using a switched load. The current signal and the voltage signal may then be measured and filtered to isolate the current signal and the voltage signal from noise signals occurring in the FC system. A high frequency resistance of the FC may then be calculated based on the filtered current and voltage signals.

  • Patent number: 8705545
Abstract: A system and method for routing packets. The method includes receiving a first packet from an intermediate network by a first network interface card (NIC) operatively connected to a host, where the first packet originates from a first remote network, where the first NIC is operatively connected to the intermediate network, and where the first packet, the intermediate network, and the first NIC use a first network protocol. The method further includes classifying, by the first NIC, the first packet based on the first remote network, sending the first packet to a first receive ring in the first NIC, sending the first packet from the first receive ring to a first non-global container, and converting the first packet, using a first converter located in the first non-global container, to obtain a first converted packet, where the first converted packet and the first remote network use a second network protocol.

  • Publication number: 20140025320
Abstract: A health monitoring system for a fuel cell stack using current fuel cell architecture to enable the electronic control unit (ECU) to continue to monitor the health of the fuel cell stack despite a component failure. The system uses an embedded measurement module (EMM) connected to a group of fuel cells in the fuel cell stack to monitor the health of that group of fuel cells. The EMM produces a pulse width modulation signal that is sent to the ECU. A total voltage value for the group of fuel cells is embedded into the calibration signal or end of frame sequence. The ECU uses an algorithm to determine a missing voltage of at least one fuel cell in the event of the component failure of that fuel cell by adding up the cumulative value for each fuel cell reporting their voltage and subtracting that value from the total voltage value found in the end of frame sequence.

  • Publication number: 20130325650
Abstract: Systems and methods for a product driven approach to technology provisioning, operations, and billing are provided. Some embodiments provide an Information Technology (IT) business architecture built around the product driven methodology. This architecture can be designed to optimize the demand side provisioning of technology products to meet business intent and the execution of supply side assembly and implementation lifecycle. A technology model can be used that recursively decomposes services and products into various components. As a result, the technology model allows for effective and efficient provisioning, pricing, and impact assessment of the organization's technology to thereby drive the efficiency of scale and the automation of the provisioning, the finance, and the operation businesses.
