  • Patent number: 6520688
Abstract: A coupling element for optical coupling of at least one optoelectronic transducer to at least one optical wave guide, with a coupling element having an image plate with a large number of small-diameter optical wave guides. Accordingly, the image plate is connected to a guide element (21) for coupling the at least one optical wave guide. This allows an optical coupling in a simple and effective manner between at least one optoelectronic transducer and at least one optical wave guide, in which case a mount, which may be of any desired form, can be used for mounting and making electrical contact with the optoelectronic transducer.

  • Patent number: 6488417
Abstract: An opto-electronic assembly includes an opto-electronic transducer, an optical path and an imaging system in the form of a translucent hollow body having internal optical boundary surfaces forming beam-forming boundary surfaces, in order to achieve effective protection against environmental influences for the opto-electronic transducer and the imaging system in a simple manner. The beam-forming boundary surfaces are preferably in the form of lens surfaces. There is an additional possibility of providing a mirror surface or a reflective surface on the basis of an association between the opto-electronic transducer and the optical path. The opto-electronic transducer and the translucent hollow body are is expediently embedded in a potting compound.

  • Patent number: 6457875
Abstract: The arrangement has at least two electrooptic transducers (1, 2) with in each case one optically active zone (1a, 2a). Optical connections (12, 14) which are assigned to the transducers are adjacent at a spacing (a). Optical coupling paths (8, 9) run via a coupling device (6) between the connections (12, 14) and the respectively assigned optically active zones (1a, 2a) In order in the case of a very tight spacing (a) to permit a favorable crosstalk response and a cost effective design, the coupling paths (8, 9) run in such a way that the spacing (A) between two optically active zones (1a, 2a) is greater than the spacing (a).

  • Patent number: 6385374
Abstract: A component contains a first array with a plurality of electro-optical converters for electro-optically converting a first light wavelength. Each of the electro-optical converters is optically coupled to a respective assigned wave guide. The aim of the invention is to increase the transmission capacity of such a component. To this end, a second row with additional electro-optical converters is provided which is configured to convert a second light wavelength that is different from the first light wavelength. One of these additional electro-optical converters each is optically coupled to one of the plurality of wave guides.

  • Patent number: 6370181
Abstract: The optical transmission device comprises a transmitter which emits radiation vertically with respect to a covering surface. A reflection surface reflects a portion of the emitted radiation back onto an optically sensitive reception zone of a monitor receiver which is disposed on the same side as the transmitter. An intermediate body with a reflecting circumferential surface is disposed between the reflection surface and the reception zone. At least a portion of the reflected radiation passes from the circumferential surface to the reception zone, which significantly increases the yield of the reflected portion used for monitoring purposes.

  • Patent number: 6315463
Abstract: A method for producing of an electrooptical female connector element for an optical male connector of an electrooptical plug connector. In order to allow such a method to be carried out cost-effectively, a mounting module is used during the production of the female connector element. The mounting module is provided with alignment pins disposed on an end face, facing the male connector, in such a way that it corresponds to a configuration of alignment openings in the male connector. A component support having an electrooptical component with optical transducer elements is fitted on the end face of the mounting module, in a configuration corresponding to the optical conductor ends of the male connector. Once the male connector has been joined to the mounting module and the transducer elements have been actuated electrically, the component support is aligned to a position of maximum optical coupling.

  • Patent number: 6312624
Abstract: A substrate is precisely positioned by a positioning element belonging to the substrate in an assembly device. While positioned in the assembly device, a converter is disposed and fixed on the substrate in a precise position relative to the positioning element. After that, the substrate is positioned precisely in an injection mold by the positioning element and surrounded by a moldable material, causing the formation of a molded body. The molded body has at least one functional surface, such as a lens or a stop face, serving the purpose of optical coupling.

  • Patent number: 6227722
Abstract: A component module includes a substrate having a top side on which both a plurality of optical waveguides and first positioning structures are created by planar structuring. Joined to the substrate is a plug connector part, which has at least one mechanical alignment element for mechanical alignment relative to a complementary plug connection partner. The plug connector part has a joining side facing toward the top side which is provided with second positioning structures that cooperate with the first positioning structures.
