  • Publication number: 20240130971
Abstract: This disclosure relates to macro- and micro-sized elastin-like polymers (ELP). The addition of a polyethyleneimine (PEI) block to the terminal end of ELP allows the particle radius as well as LCST to be controlled by changing any combination of polymer concentration, ion concentration, and pH. The addition of the PEI block also provides the ability to crosslink the copolymers and achieve a stable particle radius.

  • Patent number: 11821115
Abstract: A stretchable fabric signal path may include a conductive strand located between first and second outer fabric layers. The outer fabric layers may be formed from intertwined strands of elastic material. The conductive strand may have a wavy shape to accommodate stretching of the stretchable fabric signal path. First and second inner fabric layers may be located between the outer stretchable fabric layers. The inner fabric layers may be formed from intertwined strands of non-elastic material. The inner fabric layers may have strands that are intertwined with the outer fabric layers to serve as anchor points for maintaining the shape of the conductive strand as the stretchable fabric signal path expands and contracts. The outer fabric layers and inner fabric layers may be woven. The conductive strand may convey electrical signals such as audio signals, power signals, data signals, or other suitable signals.

  • Patent number: 11799414
Abstract: A passively deployable solar panel array. A truss backing is attached to the back of the solar panels, and has top segments, bottom segments, and hinge linkages that form a series of moveable parallelograms operable to fold and unfold. The truss backing further has springs and trusses, with at least one spring and one truss associated with each of the parallelograms. The springs are operable to deploy the solar panels from a folded position to a deployed position. Each truss is operable to become in tension diagonally across its associated parallelogram once the solar panels are deployed into a final position.

  • Patent number: 11787485
Abstract: An active spoiler system for a vehicle is disclosed that changes from a stowed position to a deployed position. In the stowed position, one or more flexible sheets are stored on rollers inside the body of the vehicle. The flexible sheets are pulled outward out of the body of the vehicle by a rigid bar that rotates around a pivot, in response to a controller. The deployed active spoiler may decrease drag thereby increasing fuel efficiency, while also allowing for the active spoiler to be stowed when not needed due to road or weather conditions.

  • Patent number: 11717847
Abstract: An adhesive application apparatus is provided. The apparatus uses a rolled on adhesive applied to a substrate. After roll application, an adhesive activator is sprayed onto the substrate. By spraying an activator onto the substrate after the adhesive is applied, the adhesive may be made tacky for adhesion, but the adhesive used for rolling may be highly stable and slow to dry/cure without said activator, which enhances rolled application effectiveness.

  • Patent number: 11679941
Abstract: A vibratory conveyor system includes a product transfer pan linked to a shaker base via spring arms. Vibration transferred from the shaker base to the spring arms causes the product transfer pan to oscillate and convey products across the product transfer pan. The product transfer pan has apertures defined therein, such that excess coatings on (or fallen from) the conveyed products tend to fall through the apertures. A chute situated beneath the apertures collects the fallen coatings, and preferably diverts it to a side of the conveyor for collection and subsequent reuse or disposal. The chute is preferably linked to the product transfer pan such that the chute and pan oscillate in tandem.

  • Publication number: 20230183321
Abstract: Methods for the rapid elimination of carbon monoxide (CO) from CO-bound hemoglobin, myoglobin and cytochrome c oxidase in subjects with CO poisoning are described. The disclosed therapy involves the use of rationally designed, modified, regulator of CO metabolism (RcoM) proteins and pharmaceutical compositions thereof, which scavenge carbon monoxide from poisoned tissue. The recombinant RcoM compositions are infused into blood, where they rapidly sequester carbon monoxide and limit the toxic effects of carbon monoxide on cellular respiration, oxygen transport and oxygen utilization.
