Abstract: In particular embodiments, a computing device accesses a device identifier that is encoded in the hardware of the computing device. The device identifier is used to generate a device key that will uniquely identify the particular computing device. The computing device stores the device key in a data store, and sends the device key to be stored on a first computer server. The computing device subsequently requests a user action from a second computer server, and the second computing server requests user authentication. The computing device generates a first authentication code using a cryptographic hash algorithm and the device key, and sends the first authentication code to the second computer server. The computing device is authenticated based on a second authentication code generated by the first computer server using the device key.

Abstract: Techniques for measuring cylinder pressure include receiving an analog cylinder pressure signal indicative of pressure in a cylinder of an engine and an angular position signal indicative of an angular position of the engine. The analog cylinder pressure signal is converted to a digital cylinder pressure signal by (i) windowing the analog cylinder pressure signal in the angle-domain using the angular position signal and (ii) sampling the windowed analog cylinder pressure signal in the time-domain, and the digital cylinder pressure signal is filtered in the time-domain to obtain a filtered digital cylinder pressure signal. A measured pressure in the angle domain is obtained by sampling the filtered digital cylinder pressure signal using the angular position signal, and operation of the engine is controlled using the measured cylinder pressure.

For example, a data provider app may have knowledge about user centric data associated with a user (e.g., a social network app may have contact information for a social network friend of the user). A user centric profile may be defined for the user centric data based upon information provided by the data provider app (e.g., a contact card may be generated for the social network friend). Responsive to receiving a request for the user centric profile from a requestor app (e.g., an event planning app), the user centric profile may be exposed to the user but not to the requestor app for security and/or privacy purposes. For example, an operating system may present at least some of the user centric profile within an operating system user interface.

Abstract: Disclosed is a tube/tube connector/capsule port assembly that eliminates a connection point in a filter capsule apparatus. A relatively soft tube is thermally or sonically bonded to a relatively hard tube connector that may have a tube receiving bore, frustoconical tube receiving channel or straight tube receiving channel. The tube connector is bonded to a filter capsule port. The manufacturing process can be either a one-step process bonding the tube, tube connector and capsule in one step, or a two-step process that binds the tube to the tube connector in the first step and they binds the tube/tube connector subassembly to a filter capsule housing during the housing's molding procedure. Single and dual-walled tubes may be used as well as single and dual-walled tubes having reinforcing material superposed about or embedded in the tube wall(s). A tube support collar is also disclosed.

Abstract: In particular embodiments, a user associated with a user account wishes to utilize their computing device to facilitate authentication of their identity. The user may provide a device key to an online system hosting the user account, wherein the device key uniquely identifies their computing device. The device key may be based on a device identifier encoded in hardware of the computing device. The online system may then store the device key in association with the user account. Subsequently, if an action related to the online system requires authentication, the user may be asked to provide authentication using their computing device. The user generates an authentication code using their device, which can be entered by the user into a user interface for comparison against an authentication code generated using the device key stored by the online system.

Abstract: A bio-reactive container and filter assembly to improve flow rates and mass transfer without increased pressure. An inlet filter membrane secured to the container defines a container chamber in combination with the container. An inlet filter membrane element may also be secured to the container to provide structural support to the membrane. An outlet membrane secured to the container defines a container chamber in combination with the container. An outlet filter membrane element may also be secured to the container to provide structural support to the outlet membrane. Inlet and/or outlet filters and/or filter elements are constructed to significantly increase surface area available for fluid and/or gas ingress and/or egress. Single and double layer membranes with mixtures of hydrophobic and hydrophilic characteristics are used to maximize perfusion and gasification/degasification of bio-reactive containers.

Abstract: Braze methods include providing a substrate comprising a pre-sintered preform disposed thereon, wherein the pre-sintered preform comprises a mixture comprising a base alloy comprising about 30 weight percent to about 90 weight percent of the mixture and a second alloy comprising a sufficient amount of melting point depressant to have a lower melting temperature than the base alloy. Braze methods further include at least partially covering the pre-sintered preform with a heat resistant material, wherein a melt temperature of the heat resistant material is higher than a melt temperature of the pre-sintered preform, and heating the pre-sintered preform on the substrate.

Abstract: A water post hole digging tool is provided. The water post hole digging tool includes an elongate conduit member having an upper portion, a body portion, and a lower portion. The body portion may include a plurality of removably attached channel members. A handle is integrally attached to the upper portion of the elongate conduit member. A boring element is attached to a distal end of the lower portion. The boring element includes a concave expanding nozzle opening with a plurality of apertures for discharging water flow therefrom to change the contents of a desired hole from a solid to a slurry liquid mixture of water, sand, soil, and rocks.

Abstract: Advertisement content presented to a user of an online system is presented along with an option allowing the user to view one or more reasons for presentation of the advertisement content to the user. If the user selects the option, based on targeting criteria associated with the advertisement content and characteristics associated with the user, the online system selects one or more characteristics of the user satisfying the targeting criteria and presents a description to the user identifying the selected one or more characteristics satisfying the targeting criteria. The online system may apply one or more rules based on user perception of characteristics when selecting the one or more characteristics included in the description. An option for the user to prevent use of the selected one or more characteristics when the online system subsequently selects advertisement content for the user is also presented with the description.

Abstract: A model based social analytic system collects social signals from social network accounts for different companies and constituents. The social signals can be used to benchmark social network performance for different contextual dimensions, such as industries, companies, brands, etc. Conversations may be identified in the signals and the types of constituents participating in the conversations may be identified. Analytics can then be determined for the contextual dimensions based on the related conversations and the types of constituents participating in the conversations.

Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting a turbine blade tip shroud includes a frame comprising a top surface and a bottom surface that is alignable with the turbine blade tip shroud, and, at least one z-notch inspection slot that passes through the frame from the top surface to the bottom surface and is positioned to align with at least one z-notch of the turbine blade tip shroud when the frame is aligned on the turbine blade tip shroud.

Abstract: A vessel for dehydrating a natural gas stream using molecular sieve material contained therein and a method for designing such a vessel are described. The vessel includes cylindrical vessel walls having a plurality of thermally conductive plates attached to the inner surface thereof. The plurality of thermally conductive plates are distributed vertically and circumferentially through the cylindrical portion of the vessel. The dimensions of the thermally conductive plates can be determined using computational fluid dynamics analysis of a process for regenerating the molecular sieve material. It is possible to reduce the duration of operation in regeneration mode using the vessel of the present disclosure.

Abstract: A system may include at least one computer device configured to attain a two-dimensional used profile of a leading edge at a specified radial position on a turbomachine airfoil after use. The system aligns opposing substantially straight alignment portions of the two-dimensional used profile with opposing substantially straight alignment portions of a previously attained, two-dimensional, baseline profile of the turbomachine airfoil. The alignment portions of each profile are in substantially identical radial locations of the turbomachine airfoil. Comparing the used profile to the baseline profile determines whether the leading edge at the specified radial position of the used turbomachine airfoil has erosion. The system may also include a laser profiler for measuring the turbomachine airfoil.

Abstract: A liquid recovery filter assembly for recovering filtered liquid trapped within a core or downstream side of a filter element. Multiple embodiments each include a recovery port and a recovery filter in fluid communication with the core or downstream side of the filter element. The recovery port is opened following filtration operations to permit and to facilitate filtered liquid to flow from a downstream or outlet port, thus allowing recovery of liquid remaining in the filter core or downstream side following filtering operations. The recovery filter permits the introduction of pressurized gas to force the filtered liquids from the filter assembly without compromising the sterility and/or non-contaminant condition of the liquid.

Abstract: An online services system includes a mechanism for providing user confidence information to an external data consumer, and for determining user contribution quality. Using stored information about user actions and interactions, user confidence is evaluated for one or more parameters associated with the validity of the user's account and/or quality of the user's contributions to the online services system. Confidence values are assigned to each parameter, and the values are exposed to external data consumers. Using stored information, user actions and interactions are correlated with contribution quality to produce a metric indicative of user contribution quality. Users with low quality parameter metrics may have their contributions shown to a smaller audience or have a lower prominence in a news feed.
