  • Publication number: 20200115032
Abstract: A high-lift device surface and associated method of designing the high-lift device surface is described. Methods include entering one or more flight conditions, and receiving aerodynamic forces at a wing, the wing comprising a fixed portion, a seal coupled to and extending from the fixed portion of the wing, and a high-lift device surface having an as-built shape determined based on an anticipated deformation during flight. Methods also include deforming the high-lift device surface based, at least in part, on the received aerodynamic forces, contacting, based on the deforming, the high-lift device surface with the seal, wherein the deforming causes the high-lift device to deform from the as-built shape to a second shape, and wherein the contacting causes the high-lift device to fully contact the seal to prevent air flow between the seal and the high-lift device surface due to the received aerodynamic forces.

  • Patent number: 10538306
Abstract: A high-lift device surface and associated method of designing the high-lift device surface is described. The flap can be attached to a wing on aircraft. The method can involve determining a manufactured shape of the flap. The manufactured flap shape can be deflected in some manner, such as bent or twisted, so that under selected flight conditions, such as cruise, the manufactured flap shape morphs into a second desired shape that satisfies specified constraints, such as geometric and sealing constraints. An advantage of the approach is that the flap doesn't have to be mechanically forced, using mechanical elements, into the second desired shape. The elimination of the mechanical elements results in weight and cost savings to aircraft on which the flap is deployed.

  • Publication number: 20190354915
Abstract: Certain aspects relate to systems and techniques for acquiring metrology inspection data of manufactured physical parts, identifying measurement uncertainty scores at various stages of the process of manufacturing and inspecting the physical parts, and leveraging the measurement uncertainty scores to evaluate manufacturing setups for the capability to make and/or inspect other parts. The scores can be specific to particular geometric features, and manufacturing setups can be identified for new parts based on the geometric features of those parts. To this end, the metrology system can receive inspection data and tolerance specifications in a variety of formats and convert the data into a standardized feature-based format. Standardized metrology data can be aggregated into appropriate subsets to identify uncertainty attributable to performance of a particular metrology inspector, manufacturing system, or metrology device with respect to specific geometric features of manufactured parts.

  • Publication number: 20190295545
Abstract: A method for generating a dialogue event in a natural language processing system comprises loading, into a computer memory, a computer-readable seed command describing an ordered sequence of two or more top-level dialogue events. A dialogue event includes a client utterance or a computerized assistant response. The seed command includes one or more sub-commands, each sub-command corresponding to a portion of the ordered sequence of two or more top-level dialogue events, and the focal sub-command of the one or more sub-commands being parametrized by a seed semantic parameter. The method further comprises re-parametrizing the focal sub-command by outputting a plurality of different re-parametrized focal sub-commands wherein, in each re-parametrized focal sub-command, the seed semantic parameter is replaced by one of a plurality of different synthetic semantic parameters.

  • Publication number: 20190034038
Abstract: Systems and methods related to intelligent typing and responses using eye-gaze technology are disclosed herein. In some example aspects, a dwell-free typing system is provided to a user typing with eye-gaze. A prediction processor may intelligently determine the desired word or action of the user. In some aspects, the prediction processor may contain elements of a natural language processor. In other aspects, the systems and methods may allow quicker response times from applications due to application of intelligent response algorithms. For example, a user may fixate on a certain button within a web-browser, and the prediction processor may present a response to the user by selecting the button in the web-browser, thereby initiating an action. In other example aspects, each gaze location may be associated with a UI element. The gaze data and associated UI elements may be processed for intelligent predictions and suggestions.

  • Publication number: 20190034057
Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein relate to assigning dynamic eye-gaze dwell-times. Dynamic dwell-times may be tailored to the individual user. For example, a dynamic dwell-time system may be configured to receive data from the user, such as the duration of time the user takes to execute certain actions within applications (e.g., read a word suggestion before actually selecting it). The dynamic dwell-time system may also prevent users from making unintended selections by providing different dwell times for different buttons. Specifically, on a user interface, longer dwell times may be established for the critical keys (e.g., “close” program key, “send” key, word suggestions, and the like) and shorter dwell times may be established for the less critical keys (e.g., individual character keys on a virtual keyboard, spacebar, backspace, and the like).
