Publication number: 20150284586Abstract: A novel Aromatic Thermosetting Copolyester (ATSP) can be processed into highly effective wear resistant coatings by blending with polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) and other additives. Surface treatments/coatings are key to improving wear performance and durability in a wide array of applications. The problems associated with use of liquid lubricants, hard/soft coatings are well known but only modest progress has been achieved due to lack of research on new material systems. These coatings were fabricated and tested as highly effective wear resistant coatings by blending ATSP with PTFE and other tribologically beneficial additives. The main advantages of these polymeric-based coatings are their relatively low cost and simple substrate surface conditioning (i.e., no need for expensive surface preparation before coating).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2015Publication date: October 8, 2015Applicant: ATSP INNOVATIONS, LLCInventors: James Economy, Andreas Polycarpou, Jacob Meyer

Patent number: 8881469Abstract: A deck unit has a hinged, cover panel for use in a deck system as a ceiling. The hinge may be a continuous hinge running the length of the deck unit, preferably a continuous hinge, and extend the length and width of the deck unit including its side flanges or be recessed within it. The edge of access panel cover opposite its hinge is secured using a securing mechanism to a bracket affixed inside the deck unit. By example, a set screw is threaded through a hole in the cover panel, through a weld nut on the inside face of the cover panel and through a U-nut straddling the bracket. Accordingly from a distance, the hinge, latch and the securing mechanism are not visible to indicate that the cover can be opened to permit access to the deck system interior.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Consolidated Systems, Inc.Inventor: Brian Jacob Meyer

Patent number: 8788497Abstract: Interrelated items in a complex item set (such as a set of components in a complex software architecture) may be difficult to present in a manner that facilitates an understanding and evaluation of the item set, due to the amount of information and the difficulty in automatically discerning the organization of the item set. A set of criteria may be utilized to form criterion groups to which items matching respective criteria may be automatically assigned. Further grouping assignments may be achieved by identifying an ungrouped item that is associated with a grouped item. Such techniques may be applied in many variations to yield a representation of the item set, and a presentation of the item set to a user, that aggregates similar items and interrelationships, thereby promoting an understanding and analysis of the structure and organization of the item set while reducing the user involvement in the generation of same.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2008Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Jean-Pierre Duplessis, Chris Lovett, Craig Symonds, Jacob Meyer, Scott Marison, Allen Denver, Tracey Trewin

Patent number: 8240095Abstract: A deck system is made by joining deck units, each having a hat-shaped profile fastened to the topside of a profiled bottom panel. The bottom panel has nestable or interlocking side laps and one or more “dove-tail” shaped recesses formed therein. These recesses, which may be concave upward or downward, give the deck unit additional strength as a defined, confined location for use to run conduit and to provide vertical support for vertical loads. The deck system may be combined with a layer of concrete for use as a floor or roof.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2011Date of Patent: August 14, 2012Assignee: Consolidated Systems, Inc.Inventor: Brian Jacob Meyer

Publication number: 20090319993Abstract: Software architectures may include many types of elements, such as classes, functions, databases, queries, and users. An architecture may be the subject of many types of analysis, such as discovery of architecture features and design choices, rendering according to (e.g.) a visual layout or as a hierarchical data set, validation and testing of a chosen design, and evaluation by systems analysis tools. However, the information documenting the software architecture is often organized in a disjointed manner, such as in a set of release documentation, inline comments in source code, notes recorded in version control systems, and contact databases. Instead, the software architecture may be represented as a set of nodes of various node categories interconnected by links of different types. The representation may then be utilized in many types of analysis, such as visualization, transformation, and element analysis by complex systems analysis tools.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2008Publication date: December 24, 2009Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATION,Inventors: Allen Wayne Denver, Mohsen Agsen, Craig Joseph Symonds, Jacob Meyer, Scott Marison

Patent number: 7450624Abstract: Laser diodes are formed with an outcoupling grating between two separate distributed Bragg reflectors. The devices have gain regions located between the reflector gratings for pumping the active region. The outcoupling grating couples light out of the waveguide normal to the surface if the grating spacings are equal to an integer number of wavelengths of the light within the cavity. If the gratings are not such an integer number, the light is coupled out of the cavity off the normal.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignee: Photodigm, Inc.Inventors: Gary A. Evans, Jay B. Kirk, Jacob Meyer Hammer

Publication number: 20080192794Abstract: A traveling-wave, surface-emitting-optical-waveguide amplifier uses Bragg gratings to provide both confinement in the lateral direction and couple light out of the waveguide plane. The grating lines are parallel to the direction of flow of the optical mode in the traveling-wave amplifier and result in emission along the entire length of the amplifier. The parallel grating does not cause feedback into the optical mode so that laser oscillation in the traveling wave amplifier is avoided. At the same time the continuous output coupling provided by the grating avoids the deleterious effect of power saturation. In this way coherent light is emitted from a very wide and long area resulting in very high power and outstanding low beam divergence. A DFB or DBR laser may be included monolithically as the power source for the amplifier and to obtain a Master-oscillator-power amplifier (MOPA) with outstanding performance.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2007Publication date: August 14, 2008Inventor: Jacob Meyer Hammer

Patent number: 6891983Abstract: A band-stop wavelength filter and TE-TM mode selector made using an absorptive layer on an optical waveguide is provided. At the correct thickness, refractive index, absorptive loss, and location of the absorptive layer, a relatively high fraction of guided-mode intensity flows in the absorptive layer for one polarization mode. A much smaller fraction flows for the perpendicular polarization mode and for wavelengths on both sides of the design center. The result is a broad-band-stop filter for the selected polarization mode. This device is capable of strong discrimination between TE and TM modes over a very broad bandwidth.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2002Date of Patent: May 10, 2005Assignee: Photodigm, Inc.Inventor: Jacob Meyer Hammer
