  • Patent number: 5480966
Abstract: Peptides are derived from the envelope glycoprotein of HIV virus and having one of the following formulae ##STR1## in which X represents an NH.sub.2 group which is free or converted into an amide by one or two alkyl groups comprising from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and Z represents either an OH group which is free or present as an alkoxy and thereby containing an alkyl group comprising from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and in which at least one of the Cys residues is deleted, substituted or protected. The peptides are applied to the detection of infection caused by the viruses HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 and to the vaccination against AIDS.

  • Patent number: 5458800
Abstract: To replace 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (F113) in its applications to the cleaning and drying of solid surfaces, the invention propose to employ a (perfluoroalkyl)ethylene of formula:R.sub.f CH.dbd.CH.sub.2in which R.sub.f denotes a linear or branched perfluoroalkyl radical containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms. In contrast to F113, (perfluoroalkyl)ethylenes are not liable to degrade stratospheric ozone.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5368594
Abstract: A vertebral osteosynthesis device employs outside faces of lateral walls of each hooking element which are inclined toward each other such that they converge from the side opposite hooking elements designed to be attached to the bone, while a gripping element in the shape of a clamp has side arms with inside faces inclined at slopes that match those of outside faces of lateral walls. At least two gripping means are disposed beyond the lateral walls and are provided to move the gripping element such that the inside faces of its lateral arms abut the lateral walls, bringing them toward each other and sliding on them upon gripping, to bring the lateral walls closer together to lock each hooking element onto a support rod.

  • Patent number: 5308528
Abstract: For replacing cleaning compositions based on 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (F113), the invention provides a composition comprising 55 to 80% by weight of 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane (F141b) and 45 to 20% by weight of methyl formate. These two compounds form a positive azeotrope (b.p.=28.4.degree. C. at atmospheric pressure). The composition, which may be stabilized, can be used for cleaning solid surfaces, in particular for removing flux from printed circuits and for degreasing mechanical parts.

  • Patent number: 5152913
Abstract: For replacing cleaning compositions based on 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (F113), the invention provides a composition comprising 55 to 79.5% by weight of 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane (F141b), 20 to 40% by weight of methyl formate and 0.5 to 5% of methanol. These three compounds form a positive azeotrope (b.p.=28.3.degree. C. at atmospheric pressure). The composition, which may be stabilized, can be used for cleaning solid surfaces, in particular for removing flux from printed circuits and for degreasing mechanical parts.
